4x4 Manual to Auto

I have a 64 Chev 1/2 ton short bed 4x4 with a standard trans (4 spd) & a divorced transfer case. I'm putting in an automatic (turbo 350). Can I keep the divorced transfer case or will I have problems?

I can`t say for sure. But,usually having a divorced case makes it possible to go about any way you want with a transmission.I`m thinking you can.

Re: 4x4 Manual to Auto

You can keep it, but you might have to have a new driveshaft made from the tranny to the case

Re: 4x4 Manual to Auto

I run a 400 with a Rockwell. It had a 4 speed originally. I just picked up a 700r4 for use with a divorced np205 out of an international that is being picked up tomorrow. I like the thought of divorced t-cases for testing out different transmission options. Just curious, are you going to find a column shift set up with the gear indicator or use a cable shift set up? If you're using the column, what are you getting the steering column out of?
