Re: My 57 build (lots of pictures)
FOE is flat out engineering? if so what made you go with their cross member over the progressive one?
still trying to figure out which one to go with for my truck |

Me too!!
It was a difficult decision as all of them look like they offer an excellent product but in the end it came down to price.

Re: My 57 build (lots of pictures)
Change of plan. I tried to order my parts from Flat Out several times today. No one answered the phone and their voice mail was full. I’m not comfortable sending money out there if they are going to be difficult to deal with. I called Progressive and talked with Bob and I am getting some dimensions together for a custom fit cross member. One benefit of this set up is it looks like I can eliminate the need to Z the front of the chassis.

Re: My 57 build (lots of pictures)
custom dimensions? this sounds interesting
i'm confused on which one to get. from the pics the progressive set up looks like it would be lower than the flat out set up but i dont like having to use the ford rack with spacers you would run in the progressive set up. i want my truck to ride low at ride height without having to run the bags at a low psi and throw off the suspension geometry to get the stance i want. i'm almost to the point where i want to try and built my own crossmember |

Re: My 57 build (lots of pictures)
Found a deal on CL today. Never used RB's Obsolete automotive under floor master cylinder kit for 55-59 Chevy truck and new cab mount kit for $120.

Re: My 57 build (lots of pictures)
Hey! I started working on the truck again and actually got a little done. Got the frame rails square and some temp cross members tacked in to hold things together. I got the cab mounts off to the old frame and started modifying them to work on the new one. The front right is finished I had to narrow it then boxed it in.
After talking with Bob at Progressive I’m going to keep the frame at the original outside frame width. Now I am mocking up the frame then mounting the cab and front sheet metal. When that is done I can determine where I want the axle center line at ride height to be. Then he will fab up the cross member.

Re: My 57 build (lots of pictures)
A friend and his son came over to help sit the cab on the frame. I fit perfectly to my delight. This just reminded me of how much damn work is ahead of me.

Re: My 57 build (lots of pictures)
What is the total lenght of the frame? What was the length from the front of frame to the first body mount and then the second body mount?

Re: My 57 build (lots of pictures)
The frame is not cut to length yet. It's long in the front and back.
