Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010
We got Korbin's 82 home and started working on it. Since it will be awhile before he is driving, I will be using the transmisson in this one. We got the motor pulled and trans out. I cleaned the trans up and will replace the seals and filter before putting it in mine.
I will have to post pictures in Korbin's thread for the work we did. I will get some shots of what we are doing to mine soon. After going to the GG Lonestar Nationals this past weekend, I am a little more motivated to work on mine again. They anounced a spring show at TMS for next year, that is my new goal...We will see... Stay tuned!

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010
I plan to bring them to all the events I can. They even enjoy going to swapmeets when we can. Korbin seems to like the Square bodies now, and Owen likes the 67-72 style. I like all three...
For now I have the 9", I may get a new housing and axles in the width that I need for my "new" tire size, but my even look for a stock 12 bolt to convert to 5 lug. I will have to weigh costs at this point..

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010
I think the 8.8 rear out of a Ranger is 57" if that helps you. How wide is the 68 rear (wms to wms)? I will have to keep you in mind. I will look around here for a 58" wide rear...

1963-70 12-bolt truck housings are 62" WMS to WMS.

Re: Project Old Blue, 1965 C10, Rebuild Version 2010
Well after seeing SCOTI's progress on his, I thought I might update mine.
I really have not gotten anything done worthy of pictures. I pulled out a TH350 trans from another project that had been rebuilt a few years ago before the PO parked the truck. I cleanned up the outside and pulled the pan and fluid looks OK, so I ordred up a B&M shift improver kit, a new flex plate, bolts, and a chrome pan & bolts. Hopefully before Christmas, I will get the trans done and possibly bolted up to the engine. After Christmas, I plan on putting the engine/trans into the frame rails to work on the headers/exhaust along with the brackets and pulleys for the accecessory drive. Can you believe that Christmas is in 21 days?
