Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST

Your tailgate has a bit of a dip in it! Mine had one too, until I finally found another for 40 bucks, then spent 3 days stripping 4 layers of paint off of it! It started off red, then went to primer, then hugger orange, then black, Then i stripped it and redid it satin black. It was alot of work but it was worth keepin original sheetmetal alive.. I dont like the chinese repop junk.

Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST

I contemplated fixing the dip in my old one too, but then I found a straight one so I decided to use it. I have my old one lying around so that I still have all of the original sheetmetal for my truck.

How are you liking the satin black? Im thinking of repainting my truck, either red with a white roof, solid red, or solid white.. or keeping the satin... i dunno

Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST

Hey man if you wanna go with the semi gloss like mine, get some valspar brand tractor paint from TSC (there might not be a TSC in cali, idk?) and paint it with that. 33 bucks a gallon, sprays great, I didnt have a single run or anything. I just need to figure out how to get the hard water spots off of mine from it getting rained on... I have no idea how though

Re: slik ricks 67 short wide CST

Yeah tractor supply, Thats where I got my paint at, Its called Low Gloss Black. I thinned it with xylene in a 2:1 ratio ( 2 parts paint 1 part thinner)

And yeah it got rained on and got those little water spots all over it ya know? And its not like I can wax the damn thing cuz itll mess with the paint right?
