74 Power Steering Box Input shaft seal

Does anybody know the part number for the input shaft seal on the power steering box?

I was changing the starter switch at the bottom of the column and didn't disconnect the steering shaft first, now the box is leaking. This box is in great shape otherwise and I really don't have the money to replace the whole thing.

Any help would be great!

Curious to see also. I haven't found a seal kit and I just priced a box at a parts store for 150.00.

Re: 74 Power Steering Box Input shaft seal

427, be careful when you change the seal. The splines on the input shaft can cut the seal lips. I always wrap the input shaft with electrical tape beforehand and pull it off after I put the snap ring in. jim

Re: 74 Power Steering Box Input shaft seal

Thank you fellas! Much appreciated! The guy I talked to at Napa said he couldn't get it and the guy at autozone just wanted to sell me a new box.

I realize I'm not the OP, but thanks everybody. Just ordered the seal kit and now I've got a link in case I get in trouble.

Its nice to see what's going on and get a game plan in your head before diving into stuff like that. It almost always makes the job go much more smoothly IMO

Might be a good time to replace the rag joint since you've got it off to change the seal. Dorman 31015 HELP! Power Steering Coupling Assembly
