Re: Installed my air bags

I would jack up your rear and then set the axle tubes on jack stands and then air it out until you reach ride height. That way you can still get under it to measure. You may also, want the front in the air as well to make it level. Then measure the rear to make sure its centered and adjust your track bar accordingly.

What did you do to cover the whole you made for the rear end?

You staying in Sacramento or moving farther? Packing and unpacking the garage is the worst part for me when moving.

Re: Installed my air bags

Thanks for the tip homi. I wish I knew what my ride height is, but I'll do my best on this one...I'm hoping for it to be about an inch after the tires untuck.

Well, the hole covering is pretty ghetto...just a slab of dynomat. The carpet covers it all, so you don't know it's there. I did go under and paint the sticky part so dirt doesn't stick to it, but that's about it. Maybe one day I'll do something better, but to be honest with you, I probably won't unless I notice something is being damaged because of it which I can't see happening.

I'm staying in Sac...moving from the south area back to the north area. Going on my solo journey now, so I'm renting a home with 1.5 car garage. It'll be nice to have a garage all to myself now at least!

Re: Installed my air bags

I posted this elsewhere too, but my offset on the rear doesn't give enough clearance for the rubbing on the inner fenders. I have it adjusted to where there's just a little under 1/2" on each side between the tire and the inner fenders, and they both rub depending on which way I'm turning.

My only option at this point is to put some spacers on in the rear. I'm thinking about 1/2"-1" spacers are going to be what I'm using since I might as well get them in line with the fronts since I'm doing this.

Can anyone give some direction to what "good" spacers are since I hear about using "bad" spacers being dangerous (links would be awesome too). Thanks!

Re: Installed my air bags

Spacers require longer lugs and can make the wheel to hub connection weaker. I would try to stick with a bolt on adapter. They make adapters that bolt onto the hub 5x5 and then have a 5x5 bolt pattern.

Re: Installed my air bags

I just bought some good quality adapters for $20. Let me know and I'll give you the info. Mine were 1.25" think. I'm not sure they stock anything thinner.

1" is typically the minimum. Anything less & the lug nuts have to be extra short (and cost extra).

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: Installed my air bags

Well, been searching (Amazon and ebay), and the cheapest I can find so far is ebay for about $65. These are 1" thick as well.

Homi, if you can send the info on the $20 set, that'd be awesome!

I see you may have to trim the existing lugs if they portrude past the spacer, is it ok to just hack them off with the lug on and then back the lug off to correct the threads?
