His 68 has the same leverage as a 73-87. A Cummins in that C-series geometric leverage configuration is heavier than a BBC in a C-series leverage configuration. Ride Tech recommends/sells the F7325/26c's, 8.5" dia/3400lb & the equivalent of an RE-8 for the 73-89 C30's.

It would seem to me, if the weight is ~400lbs more vs the BBC w/the same applied leverage, he'd want @ least the F7325/26c's/RE-8's.

is the cummins really four hundred pounds heavier then a bbc. 6 vs 8 of course but is there really that much more iron in a cummins?
i am not being a smart ass either....my 7.4 is heavy, i would not put that motor in the truck then. will the frame support that much wieght in factory form?

An iron head BBC prob tips the scales around 750-800lbs dressed (about 650 block/heads). I've seen the Cummins vary from 600-1200lbs depending on the series & end parts.

The OP stated 1200# so that what I was basing my info on....

I wanted to just do static drop BUT Ive installed a Cummins motor that weighs about 1200lbs.

Yes its a big heavy chunk of iron, very tall and very long. Ive never had it on a scale but that is the figures I have heard 1000-1200lbs. Ive got a set of 4 Air Lift Dominator 2600's on the way, got them for $46.75 a piece. At this point they are for mock up, just something to hold the truck up. I wont know how they ride for some time. Ill let you guys know how they work. Thanks to all of you that posted for all the help and knowledge, Im sure Ill have some more questions before Im done. You guys rock

according to all my buddies who have ran the dominators, they ride a little soft vs the slam bags. i have personally only ran the slam specialties bags in my projects. i like the way they ride in my setups. let us know. that is damn cheap for an air bag. make sure they are not the denominator bag and that they are the dominator bag. big difference in quality!!!!!!

we are doing the dominators for 50.00 and free shipping so it works out to be a slightly better offer.. to be honest slams, firestones or dominators as long as you're running a shock like you are suppose to you'll be fine!

Good luck with the install. Personally I prefer Slams over 'stones/lifts. Slams are just overall a better bag. I've also ran Coni's and they were good bags. Held up to 800PSI

Im watching this thread. I am wanting to do something very similar to my 71 eventually. I have a 91.5 cummins from my d250 that I wanna put in. It really is 1200 lbs. The crank alone weighs 150 lbs.. thats 35 lbs more than my wife
