WIW '55 Big window short stepside

A close friend of my family has been diagnosed with brain cancer and he is trying to sell a lot of his stuff to pay medical bills, normal bills, etc. He is in his early 60's, and this truck was bought new by his dad. It is all original and actually runs quite well. It has the 235, 3OTT. It has been sitting a long and the brakes and all rubber parts are shot. It is fairly solid, but has some rust in the usual areas, lower fenders, cab corners, rockers. It is definitely fixable, but needs to be gotten out of the weather ASAP. I am seriously considering buying it to help him out, and I'm wanting to know if you guys can help me with a price that is fair for both of us. The initial price that he offered me is way too low, IMO. Normally, it would have already been in my driveway, but I cannot take advantage of him in his condition. That being said, I don't want to invest more than its worth either. These trucks aren't my specialty, so let me know what you guys think. Thanks in advance.

BTW, the front bumper grill, etc is all included. He took off the front fenders, doors, hood, and rear fenders and stripped and primed them years ago in attempt to stop surface rust. The cab and bed have some very old white paint on them.

Re: WIW '55 Big window short stepside

I just paid 2K for my 54 with almost no rust and it runs fine. The brakes did not work but I didnt try to see what was good or not...we just replaced everything and yes...all of our rubber was bad also. All of the bed wood is intact but its under a popped welded in piece of metal. I will try to get it out soon.
