Nice job on all the metal work and the subtle changes that will set this truck apart from others. Looking forward to seeing you progress through this build.

Re: Project "Financial Burden": 1968 SWB C10

Well it’s been some time since my last post. My wife and I are moving to a new house so that has slowed down progress quite a bit these past few months. The new house will have a larger workshop space so I'm looking forward to that even though my project is in "pause" mode at the moment. My dad and brother stopped by this weekend to help me move the truck to a storage location for the time being. You should see some new pictures starting in 2017 but for now here is the latest and greatest.

Re: Project "Financial Burden": 1968 SWB C10

Well the new house is finally finished and we have moved in. The workshop is 24' x 26'. I started by epoxy coating the floor and then moved all my stuff out of storage. It's a mess at the moment but I hope to have it functional in the next two months so I can start back on my project.

Looks like a REALLY nice project! Hopefully some day I will get to see it in person. I get over towards Columbus for meetings in Bloomington every month! So yeah, we are kind of neighbors!

Re: Project "Financial Burden": 1968 SWB C10

Thanks for all the nice comments guys. I finally have my new shop organized and started making sparks for the first time today. It's good to be back in the shop and making progress after 11 months on the pause button. I've attached a picture of the shop as it sits today. I enjoy watching shop tours on YouTube so I figured I should at least post a picture of mine. I'm sure I'll make some more changes but for now I'm ready to start using it!

Re: Project "Financial Burden": 1968 SWB C10

I've got several updates to pass along. First I finished welding the door skins and drilled for for the rear view mirrors. I also cut the dash for the center AC vent and the two side vents. The ball in the side vent is a billet piece from Restomod Air.

I installed a clutch master cylinder from a board member and finished up the weld nuts and support strips for high hump tunnel.

Very nice. I'm jealous of the heater. This time of year I have the constant taste of keroscene in my mouth.

Yep, the heater is nice. Definitely money well spent. I was doing the portable propane setup prior to this. I had to tell myself that yes I could by more truck parts instead of a heater but this will make me more productive (and more comfortable) during the cold season. It has a 10 year warranty and this version pulls fresh air from the outside so I don't have to worry about paint fumes running through it if I decided to paint inside.

Re: Project "Financial Burden": 1968 SWB C10

I finally completed the installation of the 69-72 style bucket seats that I picked up quite some time ago. These are actually out of 1971 Blazer. I'll need to do some upholstery work on them of course. I went with the 1975 and up Blazer console to get cup holders instead of the seat belt buckle provisions. I also fabricated my own under floor cab brace that I think others might be interested in as well. Here’s a link to the installation details.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1S4E...LFE1f29zF/view

Next thing on my list is mounting the under dash AC head unit from Restomod Air.

I had no need to any more tool boxes, but bet that deals were to be had with Sears crapp'n out (at least near me...)

Thank you. Unfortunately, the Sears where I live closed down several years ago. The toolbox was on sale over Christmas at Lowe's since Craftsman is now part of Stanley Black and Decker. I'm really hoping they can bring back the brand. I liked that the box is made in Sedalia, Missouri just like my old Craftsman box and the drawer fronts are unique. I had to take it apart to get it out of my truck and it is really well made.

I just made those high hump parts myself based on images I saw of originals. I spot welded them to the underside of the cab floor. They helped to stiffen up the sheet metal overhang quite a bit.
