Anyone have info on royal Sierra trucks?

Just bought this fender emblem on eBay. I know the royal Sierra was gmc's version of the bonanza but was much lower in production numbers. Around 500 made one year I've heard. Only a few shown on the forum in the past many years.

Anybody with info on trim and equipment? Production numbers and years made?

Re: Anyone have info on royal Sierra trucks?

I've seen that one. I used search and have come up with little to answer my questions. Although I have found a surviving sales brochure that gives the options for these. I'm sure the 73-87 doesn't have any scans of it either

I'd be interested in seeing that too. I think these "rarer" models are pretty cool. Might even shoot bigblock some scans of those so he can put 'em on 73-87.com

Re: Anyone have info on royal Sierra trucks?

It was a '75 to '81 Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra Classic with appearance /convenience options renamed Chevy Bonanza/GMC Royal Sierra.
It was a promotional thing.

Production numbers? Take any production numbers for these trucks with a grain of salt. If it wasn't built for Canada, as far as I know there are no records. You can bet there are fewer Royal Sierras than Sierras, Sierra Grandes, High Sierras, and Sierra Classics for any given year. Beyond that, it's pretty much guessing.

Trim and equipment? The Bonanza and Royal Sierra packages were options groupings of options available on the other available trim levels. They weren't unique in what was available. There were 3 packages, A, B, and C. This list of what was in each is here:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...43&postcount=2

Years made? 1976-1981. The Bonanza package (and Highlander) were actually available before that, but didn't have emblems until possibly late in the 75 model year and 76 for sure.

This page explains trim levels:
http://www.73-87.com/7387info/7387trimlev.htm

Here's a link to an RPO code list that shows years available, The three packages for Bonanza and Royal Sierra are YG6, YG7 and YG8.

Here's an introductory ad for the Bonanza:
