Re: Project Okanagan Sunset

Had to pull the axles to machine the hubs down to fit my wheels. Found out my gear ratio is 3.73, not 4.11 as I had thought.

One axle was a little pitted, so I bought repair bearings for both sides. I'll have those installed when I get the posi installed next winter.

Rear suspension was completely disassembled, cleaned and painted, then reassembled with the new parts. 4" drop springs, adjustable panhard bar, rear sway bar and new shocks.

It was hot as hell today, and I must have lost 10 lbs working out there all day. Time for a cold one!

Re: Project Okanagan Sunset

CPP rear sway bar. The end links were a ***** to put together, as the bolts are just barely long enough with the bushings compressed. I ended up putting the floor jack under the link to squeeze it all together enough to get the washers and nuts on.

Re: Project Okanagan Sunset

Seats mocked up, mid-shifter installed and temporary shifter handle from a Dodge truck. Bolt pattern was different and had to retread the ball stud as it was fine thread.

Tilt column needs wiring still. Got the wrong harness...Sport wheel I'm using, need a horn button...

Re: Project Okanagan Sunset

Set the box back on to check fitment. Rears tuck nicely, about 1/4" clearance at fender lip. I think I will roll the lips slightly for peace of mind.

Re: Project Okanagan Sunset

Got my go pedal installed, along with the throttle cable. I used a complete set up from a mid '70s C10.

There are 2 flat bosses on the firewall that are ideal for running the cable through. Simply drill a 1/2" hole and square it up with a small file. I had to bend the pedal arm over about 1.5" to line up with the lower boss.

Still need to find a bracket that will work with my carb (Quick Fuel Slayer - Holley 4150 clone). The factory bracket was too close to the firewall. I'm trying to not use the $90 billet bracket!

Having pic upload issues tonight....

Re: Project Okanagan Sunset

I had the same problem yesterday and today. Up until then I did not have to re size photos. I am guessing that the storage space on the servers for the forums are getting used up by our photos.

Here is how I solved it. If you are using a Windows based PC, to to either my computer or explorer and get to the photo you want to post. When you are there, right click on the photo and one of the options that comes up is "Edit". Click edit and it should open the photo in Paint Shop. On the main tool bar is a resize option. Click on it and change it to pixels. Type in 640 in the top box and it will automatically change it to 480 on the lower box. Do a File Save As and I just added small to the file name. Save the file.

You can then browse to the small photo and it will up load. Not sure why there is only one upload at a time but you can still do 5 photos before hitting the maximum.

If you are still having problems, feel free to PM me. I am a retired geek so can probably help get it solved.

Do you think it is worth posting a new thread on the main forum on how to solve this? I was a little surprised on the change. I do understand why they would do this, storage space is a big driver on hosting sites.

Re: Project Okanagan Sunset

Maybe a Mod can look into it. I post pics from my IPad and never had an issue before. It seemed to resize them automatically...

Picked up a Holley throttle cable bracket today, and an air cleaner spacer, since I had interference with the dizzy.

One step closer to fire up!
