Inner Fenders are long gone.Front is now bagged. Tires in write-up were 235/75/16 but I swapped on a set of Toyo 215/60/16's I prefer 225/60/16's and that is what the Shop dually aka Dreamsicle is running. It has towed fine and has had the same six tires on for close to ten years so the whale should survive fine with that rubber.

Sweetness...incidentally, I ultimately ended up ditching the swaybar.

I didn't notice a difference.

well 50% of them anyway. They are still under the cab but I took them off the bed when I pulled it to start frame notch and rear 4link/bags

J I am pretty sure I am going to pull mine off the dually and maybe, just maybe see if it will fit on my 4wd fleetside just so I don't end up throwing it out. I have never really worried about rule of scrub since most of my rides lay frame, even my daily is real close, but that Sway bar just makes me nervous for some reason.

Why the tire size change?? Do you get a better feeling of the road with the 60's??

I'm itching to lower my dually, but I am wondering what kind of clearance is left between the axle and the frame, or bump stop with a flip?

Zero clearance when I measured mine....

I measured 7.5" of clearance between the top of my axle tube & the bottom of the frame rail. The leaf pack is about 5" tall & the rear axle tube is 4" OD. Since the tube is moving from below to above the leafs w/the flip kit, the spring pack height + 1/2 of the axle tube OD should yield the amount of drop or roughly 7".

C-sections can be installed for a little more clearance but the bed floor will make contact w/the rear end differential housing.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Scoti is 100% correct. I had intended to just lower this enough to get by until my burb was done however once the flip was installed the frame and axle were nearly touching. In fact all the pictures in post # 26 of this thread the rear suspension is just the flip kit. I am not the c notch kind of guy and since it needed something I just caved and did the air and step notch which were inevitable for me anyway.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably do a hanger\shackle drop and remove a few leaves to lower it. This was a great thread by the way.

Re: Step by step Flip kit install 1 ton dually square (now with pics)

Where did you get your kit from? I've been struggling to find anything for my '64 dually. Ultimately I'm just looking for a 3" static all the way around and eventually bag it.

Re: Step by step Flip kit install 1 ton dually square (now with pics)

Western Chassis has flip kits for 73-87 (-91 cc's) 1-tons. Might require some mod's to work on earlier stuff. For 3", you can do spindles for a 73-87 1-ton up front. The rear would require a shackle/hanger combo or shackles & removing some leafs. A flip kit would yield double that 3" drop
