Re: Hooker Blackheart 1967-72 C10 Truck LS/LT Swap System Info Thread
Do you plan on making a exhaust system for the lwb and suburban chassis ? The only diffirence is 12" under the cab and 8" behind the wheels. I am glad this was mentioned as the part number does not specify lwb or swb simply c 10 trucks.

Re: Hooker Blackheart 1967-72 C10 Truck LS/LT Swap System Info Thread
Just to confirm this is the correct part number for installing a 6L80E in my 69 C10? The website indicated it was only for the T56 transmission.
71222024HKR I just recently purchased a 2010 Camaro SS and going to start the process of stripping it down to be the donor car for my '69 Step-side. I want to reuse as much of this car as possible and it looks like this LS swap system is the direction I want to go to bolt it in. Just not sure if I can keep the Camaro oil pan or if I need to buy the Holley 302-2 or 302-3 while I'm at it. Thanks, Trent |

Re: Hooker Blackheart 1967-72 C10 Truck LS/LT Swap System Info Thread
Hey Trent. The stock oil pan on the 2014 and up truck L83 will not work without modifications to either the cross member or the oil pan. It's about 4 or 5 inches taller than the swap pan from Holley. I tried to make my L83 fit in my 72 C10 and quickly came to that realization. The motor would be too far back in the chassis if I allowed a safe oil pan ground clearance and wouldn't fit under the hood if I placed it over the cross member. The only solution my pea brain could muster was to clearance the cross member. It was quite the hack so I added all kinds of structure to the inside of the cross member before I closed it up. If I had waited longer it sure would have made it a lot easier.

Re: Hooker Blackheart 1967-72 C10 Truck LS/LT Swap System Info Thread
Thanks for the responses guys. I think i'll just order the Holley pan while i'm ordering the swap brackets. I'd like to use the camaro pan so I can keep the factory engine sealed up but guess its not in the cards. Guess the benefit will be not having to buy 8 quarts of oil to fill the new pan up, like the stock camaro pan.
Looks like Holley has some trans spacers for other kits for the 6L80E so I may just buy a one of the others and some shims to temporary get to 11/16" in height. I'm sure the actual spacer will be released before I get all the wiring and plumbing done and ready for a test drive again. |
