NP440 my6 a883
I thought I scored today. Guy said it came out of an 83 missing the motor. After noticing the iron case and reading up a little on that, I'm not so sure. Do I have some sort of cluged together thing or is this a legit 2wd 4spd OD set up?

Re: NP440 my6 a883
Congratulations Stomper!
I'd say that is a legit set up. They did come with dual pattern bellhousing configurations. Looks complete and you have the shifter and the rods as well. Here is a great thread with lots of information http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=670789 And another link http://www.classicjunkyard.com/new_process_a833.htm

Yes, iron case is good. And you got the shifter which is harder to find than the trans.
pattern on the trans my be GM, Chrysler, or both, same with bellhousing, depends on the year. Curious what you had to pay for it. Thinking of selling mine.

D13. After more research ya I think I did good! I traded a pair of new door seals, a 90 gauge cluster, an auxiliary battery tray, and $200 for it

Re: NP440 my6 a883
Oh yeah. I was planning on about $1k between the two of mine, one 2wd, one 4wd, one nice shifter, one partial shifter, one mech clutch bell and one full hydro bell and pedal set up.
If I was ambitious I would make up a shifter mount and rods for the 2nd one. But that would be work…

Re: NP440 my6 a883
I had an iron case one, complete with dual pattern bellhousing, and tall shifter as it came out of a van. Sold it for right around $700. So you did good.
