Re: Fall colors

Nice autumn countryside. Just starting to change around here. Probably peaking in the mountains. Great fall weather all week. I was inside on jury duty... ugh

I don't know much about farming, but even so, I'm surprised that you can mix peanuts in with your pumpkins.

Re: Fall colors

Love me some Peanuts and this time of year is the best. From The Great Pumpkin through the Thanksgiving and Christmas shows.

Colors just starting to turn here. Wife and I are planning a waterfall hike this weekend so I hope we see a bit up in the Ozarks while there.

Re: Fall colors

Leaves still hanging in, pretty. I noticed driving home this evening (I try to take more scenic routes) at about 5 o'clock how our leaves are at their best now, so many colors. We had a warmer than average October or they would have been done by now. I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow

Re: Fall colors

We traveled I-49 through the Boston Mountains today and the colors are still there, in the low areas. I was driving and in a hurry so no pictures.

I borrowed a pic of the cemetery where, someday, my body will return to dust.

Re: Fall colors

I camped in the Sonoran desert in AZ one spring coinciding by chance with a “super bloom” event. It was one of the most amazing scenes I’ve ever seen. The morning air was fragrant from the rolling carpets of flowers.

Re: Fall colors

Our colors are popping full tilt right now. I ran up the hill after work yesterday after work to High Knob on Catoctin Mt (1,510'). Being a truck guy I took a picture of my Suburban with some leaves thrown in. Last picture is at home. Looked better in really life. My huge maple is about bare

Eric I’m gonna have to take you up on that one of these days. I’ve been saying for a while I was gonna hit the northern half of the state, I’ve been told I would love it quite a bit. I’ve only been as far north as about Bakersfield.

Re: Fall colors

I wanted to share a fall thing I am experiencing right now. Not fall colors but it has to do with the leaves. Enough leaves have fallen and the wind is blowing the right way so that for the first time since early spring tonight I can hear the train way off in the distance. First the whistle at a crossing, then the rumble for miles and miles. This is the old B&O main line. It follows the Patapsco R. valley from Baltimore to Mt. Airy, then through the tunnel. A ways west is the crossing where they sound the whistle. Then it turns due S/W heading to the Potomac R. through the valleys. When the wind comes inline with the valleys I can hear the train for miles, like tonight.

Re: Fall colors

We got our first frost, which was a freeze, just last week. Maryland has been leaning more towards it's southern identity this season. I still had rose bushes pumping out flowers. But last week was a rude reminder that winter is knocking on our door. It froze hard, upper 20s, for our first frost. I hope we don't get too extreme this winter, but extremes seem to be the norm anymore. I'll be reporting our first snow before long, I'm sure

We had good colors this year. I could post a lot of pics. We went out every weekend for a month taking photos . Mostly in the 35. Same tree each week.

I did in 2017 came in from Az through Redding stopped in Eureka . Camped at the Koa in Monterey bay headed south but had to get off the PCH because of the rock slide in Big Sur .
Really liked Northern California saw lots of Jefferson state signs . Is that movement still happening or did they abandon it ?

No leaves on the trees here except the Japanese maple out front but its half bare. The mountain is brown with a green pine here and there. Depressing

Re: Fall colors

There is still life out there. Just have to look harder till spring. Winter isn't all bad. There are positives, such as beer doesn't get warm back in the bed and you don't have to hurry home with the ice cream. I'll let you know when I think of the rest
