chalky jimmy/blazer top

I have a 1972 jimmy with an original hard top. The top doesm't really need paint but after rain or washing leaves a chalky residue on the paint. Does anyone know or recomend a sealer to put on the top to keep it from bleeding?

It sounds like the paint is oxidized pretty bad. I would do a good polishing of the top and then seal it with a coat of wax. The other thing you could do is do a light sanding and then shoot it with a clear coat (if you don't sand through the paint.)

I saw a top redone by the body shop on a '70 Blazer with thin coat of urathane like rhino-liner. Looks real nice.

Some of the bed liner stuff comes in colors. Whichever one you use will seal everything. I believe its just a 1) clean it, 2)dust it, 3)apply it procedure.
