Truck has come along nicely!

My tank gave me troubles for a long time too, even after cleaning it out. I finally ditched it for a new blazer tank kit.

How do you like the new stereo? That's the EXACT one I want to get. Have you tried the HD radio yet?

Re: 1969 Chevy CST/10 comes home [Long-term project "OrangeCrush"]

You have to have the HD radio tuner box to get the HD radio stations. But the headunit is clean and simple, a nice little piece. Even pretty visible in direct sunlight, unlike most the other cheap units.

dwcsr is my hero! He's hooking me up with a working carb, so I'll be able to hopefully have a solid running truck soon. After cleaning the carb out, it runs a good bit better. Still idles high (stuck on fast idle), but isn't bogging and clogging up at the moment. Tuning needles still don't help much and it's still lean.

Well that sucks! I thought it was "in it." I just reread the info on them... "HD ready."

Did a quick search for them on ebay... not "cheap" for one.

It was 80 at Best buy, and I had a crap load of gift cards But it was an unboxed return now that I think about it.

Never the less, a damn fine bang-for-the-buck unit, ran around 110 or so I think.

Re: 1969 Chevy CST/10 comes home [Long-term project "OrangeCrush"]

Thanks a ton! We orange trucks must stick together.

That way we can be seen from space.

Mounted up the bike rack today:

My 1st mountain bike matches my 1st truck ironically! Orange on black just rocks my socks I assume.

GOT AN OVEN! Now I can powder coat some big stuff, including my wheels/headers and such. $30 well spent:

Then mounted some 2x4s for a sub frame and threw on some casters we had laying around:

I was joking that now I have a modified oven, it's lifted 2 inches on lift blocks with oversized tires. My 4x4 oven!

And hooked up the "ricer lights", used that extra peanut bulb holder that came with the conversion lights, and put in some LED peanut bulb replacement. Their amber, but show up orange in the pics. May need to tint the LEDs some to get more orange out of them.

I want to say I bought them from TrucknVans.com, they use 9003 Halogen bulbs instead of the old school sealed beams, way brighter! Also have an extra plug/base that holds a peanut bulb (comes witha clear one) for running lights. I bought the X5 LED peanut bulb thing off superbrightleds.com for some cruising lights.

Sweet deal with the oven. Cool to see your truck actually hauling it I like that and wish mine ran long enough to pick up the new motor with it

Re: 1969 Chevy CST/10 comes home [Long-term project "OrangeCrush"]

I need to reinstall sony vegas back on.

Video stuff ain't new to me

I may finish off my tires, since the epic burn outs I layed down friday were shot by my brother who doesn't know what steady is. When he did finally hold it well the roads just got wet from a quick shower and the smoking was minimal.

Think I can get it to posi burnout this time. That saturday I was easing onto the throttle and it typically pulled a posi burn out. But last friday I was just romping on it and I got some third gear one wheel peels

Re: 1969 Chevy CST/10 comes home [Long-term project "OrangeCrush"]

There was probably 200lbs worth of crap afterwards. We filled my upright trash can (on wheels) and barely got it to the front yard. The recycling bin was filled up, but far too heavy to carry with two guys. So we heaved ontop the lawn mower and strapped it on, and used it's self-propelled mode to move the bin and crap to the front yard.

Re: 1969 Chevy CST/10 comes home [Long-term project "OrangeCrush"]

Woo! Got my disk brake MC and Prop valve. Might do it this weekend, not sure. Also might rebuild the Carb with the one I got off a board member a few weeks ago.

Been a good behaving truck so far.

Just three things now bothering me.

1) Rust
2) Want MOAR POWAH
3) Ready for the next project... Some-what want to drop an old school inline 6 into a Chevy LUV. Can't stand the Iron puke in them, but love the inliner look.

Hell ya more power. And an inline in a LUV would be cool. Especially if it was unnaturaly aspirated

The new plan is to paint the older Orange Crush logo on the glove box door.

New rear tires and a bit of interesting stuff today. Crappy rain so no pics.

Got some touching up to do, later. Then I'll wet sand it to get rid of the roughness and give it a bit of a worn look.
