Re: 1969 GMC Pickup

Made an AWESOME score today! I love Craigslist sometimes... Guy advertising an air ride compressor for $50, new and some V8 engine mount relocators. I called him and he is selling a Viair compressor (didn't ask the model but he said it was a 200 psi compressor), with 5 gal, 5 port air tank (not aluminum, which sucks), for $50. Said he was going a different route with his truck. Mentioned he had airbags as well, I asked him if he wanted to sell those.....Yes....also has the bag cups and rear mounts, how much for everything....$150. DONE!! Bags are still on the truck, he started to install the system but didn't have the cash for the valves, fittings, and tubes. Picking it all up Sunday! SCORE!

Re: 1969 GMC Pickup

Brad bought my motor and we tore it down last night. Not as bad as i thought it would be with how hard I ran it, but definitely showing some signs of wear after 1 1/2 years. Guessing I put MAYBE 30K on it but my speedometer didn't work so I am not sure...might not be that much.

Any chance you're gonna want to get rid of the gear drive?

Re: 1969 GMC Pickup

Gear drive was sold back to Brad with the motor, he may want to sell it though, I know he is selling the cam and lifters. I will ask him and let you know.

Re: 1969 GMC Pickup

Got a couple of parts for the air ride today. Compressor and pump, the bags are still on his truck and it is buried in snow. Should have them this next week. Viair 380C compressor and Firestone 5 gal tank. Also am going to get a set of doors tomorrow with the help of Brad. Will surely have pics, promise.

Most definitely! I have been getting very lucky on prices for this project. Also just scored some inner fenders from Sean (sswitzke) in exchange for my mechanical abilities. Now for the good stuff.........

Re: 1969 GMC Pickup

Brad and I took a little drive south for a few hours to pick up the doors...quite an interesting drive to say the least. Let's just leave it at, I need a small pick-up!! First up is the trip down...Brad has a very heavy foot and the 4 cyl s-10 struggled to keep up. The guy I got the doors off had some fairly decent trucks, needing work, but decent. Should have gotten pics before we left, but on the way out was what I got.

Re: 1969 GMC Pickup

Now the whole reason the trip happened...VERY nice doors, little surface rust and a ding or two here and there, but very good condition. Lots of pics for you to enjoy.

Nice looking doors there bobbo!

Tell Brad to remember he's not pulling the boat, so he could have pulled atleast another 10 MPH out of the 4cyl...
