Re: Killer

No problem

I dont know what wheels you are running, but I have read that 3" drop spindles wont work (or at least not W/O mods) with 15x8" wheels

I bought the 2-1/2" DSs & mine are pretty close

Re: Killer

Well I checked the mail today & I got my new rear view from Mekdad

What it looks like out of the box
Not bad, but has VERY sharp edges & slight machining marks

So I smoothed the edges with a orbital sand & uses 220 grit
Then I hand sanded it with 600 grit

Then I polished it on the buffer

Re: Killer

I also worked on the heater box some more, but didnt get it finished

And I took some more pics of it at dump... Mainly cuz Im pic whore
In some of teh pics below the front tires are sitting on some 2" thick boards because the LCAs dont slide on the cement very well & wont let it lay 100% out, so with the boards under the tires it actually lays out a half inch lower than without (5" to the bottom of the bumper at the lowest point W/O the boards & 4-1/2" with the 2" boards under the tires)

Re: Killer

Cool! How you think that mirror bracket would look painted black? I want mine to look as stock as possible and the polished aluminum just doesn't look stock to me.

Re: Killer

Mirror bracket looks great.
At dump now, what is the distance to pinch weld?
What will crossmember to pavement clearance be at ride height?
What length shocks will you need or are you going to mod the brackets to run stock?
Is this where you plan to leave the front suspension for a while, at least til you get a drop member? Or do you have other mods planned for it?
Looks really good.

Well I did have a ex chrome shop owner to teach me

IIRC its about 3" (the middle of the front bumper is 5")

Im not sure of that, but thats not what I have to worry about, my LCAs are the lowest part of my scrub line

I still need to measure & see how long they need to be

Yeah this is as low as Killer 1.0 is going
Although I may pie cut my UCAs to help with camber

Hey bomb just wondering why wont the 3" drop spindels work? i have a disc setup out of a 81 and i was going to order the 3" spindels any info? On my member i plan on using a couple drag blocks and jsut bolt it to the bottom of the member not sure if that will work but it seems good in my head.

Re: Killer

They make the LCAs REALLY close to the wheels & the more inset the wheels have the worse it is (only with 15" wheels, anything bigger is just fine)

Now I have heard of some people clearancing the LCAs so they dont rub or knock off the wheel weights, but I have never done it

In the end it only matters how low you want to ride & its only a 1/2"
My truck would lay out just as much in the front without them, but it had STUPID camber & to get rid of the camber I had to air it up a lot

Re: Killer

I really didnt get anything done to Killer today... but I did stare at em, does that count ???

I mocked up the heater box & I think Ima have to cut the corner of it a lil more for more clearance
It clears the tire, but it wouldnt allow for a inner fender

I will be filling in the stock hole & making a tube that runs into the inside of the cab... A sort of bulkhead I suppose

Also found out that at true full dump, my tires come off the ground

Re: Killer

Great work on this build! How about the pie cut on the UCAs you mentioned earlier to help with camber issues. What's involved or whats the general procedure?

I havent done that yet, & I was mistaken on what it does... It helps with BJ bind, not camber

Re: Killer

back on page 7 where your dad's holding the fender in place, is that at ride height, or are the bags dumped, or are the bags in yet? will it go lower than what is shows in that pic?
