Sounds good, thanks. I'll be sure to post pics of my setup as well (whenever I get around to doing the AC system).

Thanks guys. I guess "mucho $$$" is different to everyone, but for a daily driver I am still WAY under a newer truck (that I would like as much).

Hello All, I have my frame cut down and dusted all the snow off of it and brought it back in the garage to start grinding some rivets off. What is everyone's experience with painting or powder coating the frame?? What do you think 67c10bub??

It won't be a daily driver but a driver.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread

I used a Sherwin Williams Exterior Industrial epoxy paint on my build... very happy with the results... however I have not started driving mine to see how it holds up to daily use. Powdercoat is usually a more durable finish... my only problem was I figured i would have to make slight modifications and there is NO way to patch or fix powdercoat.

With all that said.. I will probably try powdercoat on my next project.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread

67C10BUB... did you use the supplied header gaskets with your DT headers? I was told to buy new, better quality gaskets and not use the ones supplied. Just wanted your opinion. Also did you use the supplied hardware or something like ARP header bolts?

Thanks as always

I just wire wheeled, sanded, primed, and painted semi-gloss black with Rustoleum. I would have liked to powder coat, but it just wasn't in the budget. I am going for a more factory look than a show car look anyway.

Yes, I used the DT gaskets and I don't have any leaks. I always spray both sides of my header gaskets with Permatex Copper Spray-A-Gasket. You can buy it at any Auto Zone, etc. I also used the hardware that came with the headers.

I used to love driving my 67 (small window) around with all the thumbs up you get, but the blind spots are huge. I wish I still had it.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread

I got the exhaust done today by Ralph's Muffler in Fontana CA. I can't say enough good things about Gabe, the technician that did the install. I got 2 Magnaflow mufflers, 2 rolled lip tips, and full custom install with an H-pipe for $450 out the door. This seems like a killer deal to me and the welds/bends look absolutely perfect. He even installed 4 hangers with rubber isolators. If anyone is in the IE in CA I would strongly suggest looking into Ralph's. These pics are during the install before the H-pipe was installed. I'll try and get more of the completed system.

Damn! Looking good!... May I ask what kind of plug wires you ended up using for the DT headers?

I used the MSD 32819 and they worked out great. The ends are bendable, so they can be moved around the header tubes as needed.
