Thanks to this forum and another member I was able to shorten my steering column 3" last night. So much more room. Will get pics up tonight.

This is a great looking build! It has given me some ideas for my upcoming build. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

I just came across your build and its awesome. I like your work and I like the theme. I have two questions for you. 1 is did you have to notch the core support to make a little room for the steering box? and 2 is with the 3" z did you have to do anything with the trans tunnel in the cab floor? it didn't look raised. thanks

I did have to notch the core support for the gear box. Infact it clears the radiator by a piece of paper. I did the high hump swap on the trans tunnel and it cleared but I did raise the floor an 1" right behind the tunnel to clear the ujoint during rotation. Overall the 3" z changes a lot of things and causes a ton of work to make everything work correctly. The dropmembers and arms are the way to go for a thousand and one reasons. Won't do it this way again and I've done them in several of my trucks.

Thanks man.

The bed sides collected a few more scratch and dings while working on it. Just gives it more character though. Also plan on doing a cut out in the bed to show off the accuair goodies but to keep the bed functional I plan to use heavy expanded metal. Should be interesting when done.
