Well, it is 2:30 in the morning here, i just came in from the garage and having some subway, i thought i would catch you guys up on the workings lately. Sorry i have not been posting, it has been my own fault. First things first. My arm has been healing, so i decided to go out to the shop and get my truck done, on the downside it still hurts like h*ll. i just wanted it running so badly i had to do it, and i realize i should not have done it, i just aggravated it more i am sure. but on to some fun stuff.

Well last week i decided it was time to get her going, so i started on the electrical, i finished up the inside harness and tail section, then moved on to my gauges, i think they turned out all right for now, this will be changed eventually. I teseted everything on monday nite and it all worked, so horrah to that. I know it is not run the neates on the frame but it wil do just fine for now. here are a few pics.

After that was done, i recieved my driveshaft and brake brackets from a great friend in edmonton, Thanks Cory, ( i know you are reading this). It was time to install those. I had a friend cad out the rear brackets for me then i got concord well services to water jet them. While they were at it my driveshaft was being made, a 3" aluminum really nice job done on it. So after that was recieved it was time to finish the rear brake lines, and install the rear calipers and brackets. this all went off without a hitch. as simple as pie.

However when it cam time for the driveshaft i had a couple of issues, they accidently made it 1 inch too long, thank god my rear suspension is adjustable, so i just moved it all back what i needed for now. This winter it will come back out and sent back for shortening, oh well, mistakes happen, i am not mad at all. they treated me very well making that shaft for me. So thank you GUYS!. But one little issue also, it took me 5 u-joints to find the right one i needed for the rear diff yoke, not a biggie, just confusing, out by a couple thou. oh well. onto more pics.

Well now that that was all done, it was time to start her up. well i had to finish this and that on it and then i got everything ready to go. a friend of mine that owns Empire tire and auto came over to check and make sure everything was good for startup, he was the one doing the tuning and setting on her. Well he was adjusting the valves and said something was not quite right, but lets keep going and so we did. He turned to me and and told me that he would not start up my engine for me, i was like "WHAT" why not, he goes you lifters are seized solid james, and i was like but they are brand new. So just to make sure he phoned his dad who is a very well respected engine builder to ask advice. His dad said that in all of his carreer he has come across this twice, and to NOT start it, as i would tear a cam lobe off and then the rest of the motor would be junk for fear of shavings. I was like SH**T. so He turned around and grabbed wrenches and in 20 minutes we had her taken apart, sure enuf, they were seized, thank god he caught that. So the next morning i ran out got all the parts we needed and i assembled the engine before lunch, and Derrick came over at lunch and we fired her up, not even a 1/8 turn and she was running! We broke the cam in and that is where she sits.

I want to give a big THANKS to Wally and Cory for assembling the engine, and to Derrick for helping me start her up and saving my ass. She is one mean mother ....... sounding engine, that is all i can say. sorry for the long winded paragraph. pics.

After she was runing i had to get the body back together and the windows in, so another friend came over and helped put the sheetmetal back on her and install the front and rear windsheilds, so as of now i have a complete truck, so Thankyou Joey for helping me with that. And as of tonite, i installed the one piece windows, what a crappy setup that is, little modification my arse. the windos do not close with the felts in, so i had to modify the felts, there is not quite enuf room at the latch to make a nice easy up and down movement no matter how much you grind off, the windows will have leakes in them at the front, gonna ph the compnay on that, not impressed at all...... and the list goes on, but on the bright side they look amazing, sorry no rear pics of them yet.

I have a few more things to do before i can go for a drive, but i want to give eveeryone that helped me a huge THANKYOU, appreciated so much, especially right now when it is hard to do something with this arm of mone. anyways here is some final pics of her so...

I had all of the same issues you had with the one piece windows. Simply mods my arse to!!!!!!! i hope you have better luck than do i with contacting them they didnt do nothin for me including sendin the missin parts i had..... safe to say that these kits are

geeze man.. that sucks.. I love the look and idea of one peice windows for my 71. but at $7-800 bucks, and then the things don't fit properly and customer service and support sucks hmmm.. makes me rethink them. but the look is priceless. I hate these leaking vent windows

I tore a biceps tendon a little over a month ago and can't use my right arm worth a damn yet. It's getting better and I'm doing more everyday, but I feel ya. I wish I could find some help to make progress like this. Keep healing and don't push to hard. Re-injury is not worth it.

well guys, she will not be goin for the weekend, she was all ready but one thing.very disappointed i am. turns out i have a split brake line, they are stainless steel, so i can not get parts till next week, oh well, just will have to wait now. anyways later guys and have a good weekend, i am off to a wedding tomorow and then to the car show next week. BTW i just wanted to thank Jason L for the help today to try and get her done. meant alot.

Sorry bout the setback...no way to run some rubber line over it and clamp it for a temp fix or cut a section and flare/put rubber on? I know you really wanted to make this weekend...

Hey James, good thing your buddy caught the siezed lifters! The truck is looking good.
I'm in town until Wed and if the invitation is still open I wouldn't mind stopping in for a visit if you have time.

TGhanks, but i really do not want to chance it, new motor, diff, trans, not worth it, i will vicarously through the others i guess.

Comp cams, xe274 and i had just comps high energy lifters but now have the pro magnums. a friend of mine just became a dealer for Lunati so he was discussing putting in a full roller cam with 600 lift just for kicks and dealer cost of coarse.

It is not that i would not recommend them, but the brothers kits may be better, i believe that if you were to do door skins and adjust them better they would be fine, they just have to work on the windows at the front, cut them a little better, as for the brake line what happened was actually my fault i had my glasses being fixed that day and i made the flare without them on, turns out i splt the SS line at the flare, poop happens i guess. very hard material to work with.
