Re: 1969 GMC Pickup
You get to spend the weekend in Los Angeles, weather will probably be better there anyway!

Re: 1969 GMC Pickup
More progress today. Kyle came over and did a little more work to the drip rail removal. I grinded some more paint and installed the passenger door with the help of new-to-me door hinges. Trying out the fit and lack of drip rail look.

Re: 1969 GMC Pickup
Good Job. Looks like you are taking advantage of the mild weather before the next direct hit of extreme ice n snow prediction. I also took advantage of a few hrs of warmth also.

It's crazy, 60 plus degrees yesterday and now we are under a winter weather advisory. Supposed to get some pretty bad storms tonight...

Re: 1969 GMC Pickup
Picked up a '69 GMC last summer that my grandfather had owned since '73, so I am really enjoying this thread. I may have missed it, but what size & brand wheels are those in the current pictures, and what size tires (looks like they are Firestone Wilderness A/Ts, but I could not see the size)?

Re: 1969 GMC Pickup
looking good, that is one thing I will plan on my next build is getting rid of that drip rail. Especially the one on the front top. Have you thought about flush mounting the windshield. I may have missed it if you said that already. That would get rid of the gasket and use the adhesive the newer ones use. I think it would be better (I still fight a drip).
I have seen it in magazines and it is a very clean look just my thoughts.

Re: 1969 GMC Pickup
Do you have any links Dave? I've heard of that but not sure how many hours of work may be involved.

Re: 1969 GMC Pickup
That would look good. Hadn't heard of that before or thought about it. Will have to research it and chat with Kyle about his thoughts.

Re: 1969 GMC Pickup
Haven't done a whole lot with the weather being crappy the last couple weeks. Did remove the cab tonight with help. Shooting for this weekend to do some more work on the drip rail, going to do some more grinding tomorrow and acquire some dolly's to put the cab on.

Re: 1969 GMC Pickup
Drip rail completely removed, tomorrow I am going to do some cleaning of the welds and try to NOT screw up Kyle's hard work.

Nice! Ask him what he would charge to come up here and weld in a complete floor for me? I'll provide beer and lodging for the weekend!

Tell him to go out in the front yard and 'melt' some of that snow.
