a little update on the hulk, we're trying to get thing a roller....so i got a fo*d 9" and im in the process of narrowing, rebuilding, and smoothing....its gonna be narrowed 8.5" from the stock 12 bolt, or 50" houseing end to houseing end....

are you personally gonna shorten the rear diff, if so, what a re you gonna do about making sure the diff is strait after welding?

yes, it will be jigged up....basically a solid peice of round bar, thats perfectly streight, and 2 'pucks' that slide over the bar and into the bearing hole in the axle housings ends....if this doesnt make sense dont worry it will when i post the pics of the process...

Don, when you make your engine harness and when you are shortening your wires do you solder and heat shrink them. Do you solder the O2 sensor wires. I was told today that you should not solder O2 sensor wires for some reason. If that is the case I am going to have to redo mine. Just wanted your opinon on that.

when i make a harness, i buy the PCM pins, and then i shorten the wire and crimp the new pin on.... i take great care as to not have any brakes in the wire, i.e. no soldering, no butt crimp, just one sinlge wire with the proper termination (pins) on both ends......there are cases where i have to splice wires together, and in this case i solder the wires and then use a solder sleeve over that, then sometimes heat shrink over that.....in the rare event i have to lengthen a wire, i use the same method.....as for lengthing or shortening your o2 wires useing the solder method, you should be fine with that, if your soldering points are good... the only sensor i know of that the wire length is accounted for in the proper reading is a thermocouple, in messing with those you never lengthen or shorten them...

I knew that you shouldn't solder the wires from the connector to the sensor, but the harness wiring?? I hope it will be fine it is already done and in the truck- wish me luck.. I probably should have repinned it, but figured this was easier and cheaper..

I hate thermocouples! Of course the only exposure I've had to them is changing/troubleshooting them on a C-130. Not sure how they would relate elsewhere. Off topic I know.

Anyway, do we get a shot/hint of those gauges you spoke of?

ok....the last trans tunnel i made was fine with my mock-up cab mounts (2x4)..i had four 2x4 wood blocks i was useing for the cab mounts at the time i made the tunnel, but when i put the real bushings in, only the rear were the same thinkness as the 2x4... the front was not as thick, thus lowering the cab and trans tunnel....so my .5" clearance between the trans and tunnel went to touching each other........oooooooopppppppsssssssssss, i even knew better so i cut it out and made another one, and this one flows better with everything else( like the dash) altho i know it'll be completely covered, least it looks good now

also got the parts to buildup the third member of the ford 9" going in....it has a eaton locker, richmomnd 3.70 gears, and of coarse new bearings.....sandblasted and painted the thirdmember too

got the rear end narrowed to 50", also centered the pinion....i didnt narrow it as planned, because the jig i planned on useing wasnt available. so i farmed it out. also ordered some universal axle perches for these trailing arm trucks....i had to torch out the half circles to fit around the axle tubes... got the rear end centered up, set the pinion angle,then welded the perches on...

on the notch, yes, we're more then likely gonna have to go with a bigger notch, for that sweet stance we want, while keeping it streetable too....
also the members only sign, is just that.if you dont know, you probley never will
