Re: Updated Project Pics - '61 Vette Pick Up

The last real update on this was 06/17/06. Pretty sad...

I still have all of it, though I have "borrowed" the flipped grille for the 64:

Lately I've been having evil thoughts of using the front fenders from this project on the 64 as well, and giving the short-fleet bed I have waiting for it the same wheel-arch treatment.

Then this... Use the Vette platform for my son's 68 VW squareback:

Re: Updated Project Pics - '61 Vette Pick Up

nice .... though i think basing it on a porsche platform would be smarter

i once was running with the idea in my head to use a watercooled boxer in either a van a square or a buggy and have a small rootsblower sticking up through a hole in the floor of it
i seen a lot of them with turbo's and stuff but verry few with mechanical compressors

i dont know if you have those in the states but theres een a period where putting alfa romeo boxers intoo those cars was verry populair , the verry revvy kindah engine with big bore and small stroke

there kits available for subaru engines too

You guys are supposed to convince me to execute to plan...

On the VW, the difference between those other options and the vette is simply a matter of what I have on hand ...the roots of hot rodding: use whatcha got

What's the color on the 64 does it have a pearl in it?

The Minx is not enjoyable at the moment, though I love working on it (especially with the rotisserie)

It's called spray-bomb white Rustoleum Satin White. It's just the lighting/exposure giving it that look.

This one is on hold, but Frizzle is updating the Minx build pretty regularly. CAUTION: The last update was the body going in for paint...we all know how that one can go, but it seems like it's making good progress.

The Minx link is in his signature block.

Re: Updated Project Pics - '61 Vette Pick Up

6 year bump.

Well, I held out for this long but the time has come to call it.

You all knew before I did. The good news is that the C5 skateboard is going under another body. But I won't post about that until I have something interesting to show.

The 1961 C10 parts from this build will be posted in the classifieds shortly.

Why give up on it now you ask? We are moving out of the country!

And so I have, as you may have seen, began the difficult process of releasing the coveted collection into the wild.

I wish I could take them all with me, but alas, on to new adventures...

I've subscribed so I can post on the classifieds here. Here's the status of the fleet thus far:

I haven't been active here for a while so please let me know if anything in this post is misaligned with forum guidelines.

I'll be posting a proper ad in the classifieds shortly.

Once we are settled in our new home I look forward to building more absurd creations that no one in their right mind would consider investing in and only a mother could love (until I get ahold of it )
