Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

Today, started cutting up my 2wd parts trucks for scrap to fund the build and give me space in the yard for the truck if it ever parks out side Also cleaned up the shop but truck wise did nothing. If I finish loading up scrap metal tomorrow Im going to do some body work on the passenger side fender.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

Well, motor shop called. It turns out the motor had to be bored .06 over.It will have some pep now.The motor has $250 in work now,I am about to spend $250 on pistons, rings, lifters, ect. Then $200 in having the heads re done.So that just leaves me to buy a carb, about $300-??? for a carb.I Bought a $115 Edelbrock Performer intake. So about $1115 (+-)in a mild 350.Now,thats going in a $350 truckI cant wait to see HP numbers on it Should have the motor back in a week or 2.Maybe in the truck in Mid April

Sounds like me. I think most of the things I have ran had more $ in the engine than I had in the vehical itself. RJ22

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

Well,to be fair, its a $1100 motor in a $2000 truck.Started with a rusty $350 truck, added the lift $600,added wheels and tires $730,spent a few hundred on the axles to get them in running condition. So, $3000 in a truck, that hasnt even started body work or paint. My oh my,who would have thought you spend so much on a truck that came from a junkyard.Hopefully it really shows in the end

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

Your right,it has came along ways since I started many months and hundreds of dollars ago.You do have a point but hopefully I will be able to compare the before pic to a pic after its painted and has a motor and is driveable.I might even sneak in the junkyard and park it in the same spot, snap a pic and then compare.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

1969k10stepside I have been watching so I did know you had a little more than that original $350 in it I'm just a gearhead and even when I put money in the vehical the engine still get most of the attention. It's just the way I am. RJ22 BTW are you going to reveal how that dent got in the fender?

The dent was in the fender when I bought it.The truck didnt have fenders and I bought a whole front clip for it.The dent came with the rest...I am going to replace that fender after all anyway

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

What did you decide on brakes.

I just checked on the Poly-Armour lines at my local Napa. They were $25 for a 25ft roll 3/16" but I think that I need 1/4". They seem nice and durable but are dark green? After that and the ends it won't be to bad. More durable and rust resistant than the OEM steel.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

I really havent thought about it.I have some that run from the calipers to the frame for the front but thats it.I did dig up my power brake booster to paint though.I might see if Advanced Auto has lines,I do buisness there alot.
I also found another short fleet bed that I will probably buy to replace the other one.I dont know if it has a metal floor or not though. If it does have a wood floor, then I will just use the side panels and tailgate and sell the rest,if it has a metal floor then I will use the whole thing.Same person is also selling a good cab, might buy both and work on them and paint them then swap them on the chassis.
