I'm glad people realize that because it's not easy at all but I could think of worse things to be doing in my spare time.

Don't feel bad man, I'm sure when I get my burb shell home I can show you what a slow progress build thread can look like. I'm planning on doing a 4th door and non suicide. It ought to be a school bus. A crew cab Longhorn?

Re: 68 Four door build

Well here is my up date.

I went out and bought a rear end out of a 2007 Cadilac Escalade from craiges list yesterday for $400.00 that has disc brakes and the factory four link on it.This should work well with bags for my truck.

Re: 68 Four door build

I'm unfamiliar with the 'sclade rear. Is it on par with a 12 bolt? Or light duty 14 bolt? I'm guessing it would be fairly strong since Cadillac puts some strong 6.0Ls in front of 'em.

I would think so I don't know. When I bought the 2011 the person I bought it from bought it for the bed and rear end so I needed to get one to replace it with.

Re: 68 Four door build

I am really liking the way you are moving on those suicide doors, I am afraid to show my son for fear he will want us to tackle that as a project!
Matter of fact watching you kicks me in the butt for not moving faster on all the parts I got from you, thanks again for that!
Thanks for all the pics....can't wait to see more.

Since it is six lug the rear is most likely just the corporate 8-1/2" 10-bolt. I don't think they have made the C-clip style 6-lug 14-bolt in this body style axle configuration but it is possible.

How many bolts are on the rear cover, 10 or 14?

Re: 68 Four door build

This came from a 6.2 gas escalade and is a 10 bolt should work just fine for a driver .

I wasn't sure they still made it but after seeing your post I looked into it. The 9.5" ring gear 14-bolt is still in use. It is the same semi-floating C-clip 14-bolt that is in the light duty 6-lug 2500's and the 454SS trucks from the early 90's.

Anybody seen one in a 99-up Tahoe or Suburban?

Re: 68 Four door build

Well I was at a swap meet the other day and look at what I found .
these are out of a new jeep and they fit into my original buckets and are very bright, they do have a hole in them that I will use for a turn signal as well.

You are a speed demon in my book. I have 8 years on my 70 and she still has a long way to go.

Great build you have going on.
