Re: '68 c10 build
One thing I need to get some pictures of but I'll post a narrative about in the mean time. When we assembled the tailgate assembly, the handle didn't sit perfectly in the opening. To fix this, we cut one of the arms on the handle and shortened it a little bit and now it sits squarely in the opening. Problem fixed.

Very nice job you guys are doing. I'll have to take the time and read the whole thread.

Re: '68 c10 build
Thank you. I have previously read through your build. You have a nice truck. I kind of wish I would have found it before you did and kept it here in NM .

Re: '68 c10 build
So a few posts up I mentioned the shop spent some time getting the tailgate handle to fit squarely inside the opening. The following picture shows the little arm section they cut, shortened, and welded back together.

Re: '68 c10 build
The bed is painted and the color sanding process is underway. The cross sills are all painted as well.
Also, the area on the front fenders they massaged is now painted and getting clear coated this afternoon.

Re: '68 c10 build
And they started painting the lettering on the tailgate. This is just the fist light coat which makes it look blurry in the picture. The plan is to cover the CHEVROLET script in the tailgate with decals, paint the blue, peel the decals and clear coat the whole tailgate.

Re: '68 c10 build
Thank you. I'm super excited. It should be really close to being finished by the end of next week. I need to order the wood floor, rear bumper, mirrors, and a few other little items but that's about it.

Re: '68 c10 build
Looking good. Also on the tailgate handles cutting is probably the best way. But you can also shim one or two of the bolts behind the handle. If someone doesn't have access to a welder. Keep up the good work

Re: '68 c10 build
So the reshaping of the front fenders is almost complete. They fit sooooo much better now.

Re: '68 c10 build
The paint on the bed came out amazing. It's buffed with just compound right now too.

Re: '68 c10 build
One more pic just because. I think the back will come down at least another inch once it's full of gas, has the tailgate, tubs, and wood floor in it. If I stand in the bed it drops about an inch and I only weigh about 210.

Re: '68 c10 build
Here is a side-by-side comparison of the front fenders from before and after. Obviously it hasn't been buffed. Like I said, so much better.

Re: '68 c10 build
Did you have to reclear the back of the cab? Are you planning on doing any body molding?

Re: '68 c10 build
I guess I'm not understanding why we would reclear the back of the cab? We haven't to answer the question. Also, yes, we're going to run the 68 trim on the sides.

Re: '68 c10 build
Ah, because of the plastic. No, it was on there from fixing the front fenders. Didn't take it off right away because buffing makes a mess.
