Re: "One really slow build" thread

Well I went and got some STP oil junk & put in it, but it didn't help any
So I have a scheme (I mean plan), that if works will be rather cool
Sorry, I can't tell you it's a secret

So for now, I plan on scraping up the few hundred bucks it'll prolly take to freshen a engine I have laying around that needs bearings (hopefully thats all that one needs)

And if it needs more than that, I'll prolly just stick a I-6 in it till I have the money to buy the engine I've been wanting for my truck (454 sleeved down to 396, bad@ss engine)

I'm super bummed about this
Why not just put a 396 crank in a 454 and get a 427?

Re: "One really slow build" thread

Well this is a race engine & the thicker walls make it more durable
As well as make it be capable of handling more boost

I didn't build it, so I'm not gonna change it lol

Sucks to hear about the motor man, I miss hearing that small block through those single chamber mufflers!

BTW, what's this talk about a 396? What do you know about a Big Block Chevrolet, boy?

I don't know jack about bbc (and less than i'll admit about sbc) Why would you want to sleeve down a 454 to a 396? I always thought bigger was better.

Re: "One really slow build" thread

Being sleeved down it now has thicker cylinder walls, making it stronger

Therefor I can run a lot of boost on this engine & pump out 1000hp easy
