Great news all around. Is that house located down near Rockett's landing?

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

I definitely want to see this truck in person. Found a set of polished wiper arms and blades that are for 60-66 I'll contribute to the build if you want them.

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

Yeah this is Rocketts Landing
I think some wiper arms would be nice! I have no motor though! but they would look good
She is finally off to the fabricators. I follow the tow truck down the highway watching people slow down, and point and hang out the window at snap a pic. I think it may look better actually rolling down the road lol!
Should be driving it in 4 weeks and then off to the body shop.

Thanks so much for taking the time! I really love this slow build. The truck is turning out be everything I dreamed in a cruiser. I just need to finish it, then bolt on a blower. Or maybe a twin turbo?!?! Whatever it is, it will stay in the family and be an every evolving project.

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

So this truck sat on the back burner for a while. New house, baby, finally getting settled and now the truck is in a proper fab shop, we are taking this truck and doing it right.

Truck sat outside for 10 months and cause some damage, but light a fire under my butt to fix it and get it right.
I drained the tank, put in some race fuel and it fired right up. Truck is getting copper lines run for the air ride and lots of super clean air ride and suspension taken care of.
Body parts are sandblasted and ready for primer. Should have a shake down run in 2 weeks once I plumb the brake lines.

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

^^^Thanks everyone!!

Going to put in some good hours tomorrow. Here is the progress last week.

Cleaned up the gas tank, got a new filler neck for it. I am going to be doing a hinged rear bed between the wheel tubs. So with that I want the air ride and battery to be accessible from the rear. We will also build a weatherproof storage compartment opposite of the battery side.
I am doing all the air ride in copper hard lines, all fuel lines and electrical will be run inside the frame rails. I am running conduit inside the C-Notch plus AN lines for the fuel.

Cleaned up gas tank, will bend vent copper pipe to look like a distillery. Leather worn belts will hold down the tank.

The inspiration

Dont laugh, I just took it all apart. Mounts will be installed tomorrow.

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

So there has been progress. I had scrapped the old bed, got the new(ish) bed sandblasted. Turned out to be in very good shape. We getting epoxy laid down on it this week, then patch repairs,. The wheel tubs are shot so I am going with ChubTubz shortened and widened tubs.

I also finally bit the bullet and got my porterbuilt trailing arms and control arms ordered. The tall cokers where hitting the firewall, and the rear oem trailing arms where not going to look good or perform where the bag mount is. The bags will be now over the axle.

I also ordered my copper tubing and doing the hardlines next week for the air ride.

Looks Good Jim! Hope to catch up with you when you grab the hood and inner big back window panel.

The black long bed looks just like mine when I first started!

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

Cleaned up the wheels and sealed them, added new bullet caps all around.

Waiting on the parts to arrive so I have been smoothing the frame, and working new brake lines for the Line Lock setup.

Picked out the mufflers. I am going to run and X pipe above the rear trailing arms and then run Borla XR-1 on the side of the frame with a turn down right before the rear tires.

It does! Separated at birth. Is that trim or paint in the side?

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

it had a white tape stripe in the pix . but it came with the chrome side trim from the factory. now I have all the old chrome side trim and the chrome grill and bumpers from my friends truck in the first pix. my truck was the same color aqua color as his truck.
I think your truck was the same color too .

Re: My Build: Home Depot Machine

Well I am in the "While I'm here, might as well" phase.
Painted all the suspension components. headers as well

Re painted the motor

Ordered Slosh Tubz firewall panel and Scotts Hot rod under dash brake booste mount

I am eliminating the upper rad support so it only will go to the top cowl. The radiator will be flush mount into the frame so I will still have sufficient cooling capacity.
The look will be like this
