The 327 was probably the best little small block out there... I had a 66 Chevy II with the 327/375 (L-79)... we did a little warm over on it and cranked some great low 12's with it... So I have this thing about all of my Bowtie stuff I like to run the 327 in them...

Thanks for taking a look at my builds... Dan

Re: Raymond

Ok... I got the call from Patterson Racing yesterday... They got the engine cleaned and opened up and I am thrilled with what they found...

This engine looks like it has never been opened up before and looks to be a low mileage engine... so we are going to be able to go with probably a standard .20 bore...

Now the thing I need to try and figure out in do I have the 8K that it is going to cost to build this engine right now... I have some serious business expenses hitting me in the next couple of months so while I told them yesterday to move forward I am afraid that I am going to have to call them today and put it on hold until after the first of the year to spring 2016 which is a major bummer for me... I was hoping to have this rolling by spring 2016 but it looks more like spring 2017..

Oh Well... Real life rolls on and we just have to take care of the important things...

Dan

Re: Raymond

I have to tell you guys the people at Patterson Racing starting with Allan, Barbara, Darren, and Cory are great people... Of course it doesn't hurt that Allan Patterson and I have a 30 plus year friendship...

Allan called me and to me just to pay him what I can and when I can... Said he trust me... He did say he would just work it around the 100K racing engines...

So I took him a couple grand to get him rolling good... The heads are the first thing he is working on... Then we will go to the rolling items and machine work... once all that is completed then it will come home to get some color on it...

Once the color is on then it will go back to Patterson for the final assembly and Dyno...

Hopefully we can have it stuffed back in the Painted truck around January/February...

Good people to work with and a great friend.

Would be interested in seeing the work they do as they progress. Unless it is confidential?

You know Allan and Barbara?...

I probably won't see the engine until it is a long Block... I am thinking of going ahead and having them do a hydraulic Roller Rockers and Cam... That will give it some good pop and durability...

Trucks coming along nicely. My uncle had a top reputable guy around here do his 283 and he had close to 5g's in it. It cost what it cost, but sounds like you'll be happy.

Oh... Ok... Yeah.. They are great... They are Drag Racers so they are a little gruff but good people and really knowledgeable with what they do...

Brian... I am not to sure why you are "chuckling"... He is a friend... But it isn't like he and Barbara come over to my house for fried Chicken on Sunday... and his business is building High end Drag Racing cars... Go to his Web Sight... http://www.pattersonracing.com/ just his shelf engines are 35-45K... So the fact that he would even build a 7K motor is fairly new for him..

When I build my 66 Chevy II, I wanted him to do the motor for it and he said "NAH I don't do stuff like that" but sent me to a friend of his that did...

The way he can do a "cheap" engine is to work it around everything else and the fact that Allan himself is building this engine instead of one of his guys means he has to work on it around the daily business operations and has to do it to work with my budget and that isn't something he has to do... the people he typically works with just tell him to build it and send them the bill...

Dan

Man I am Stoked... After looking around for over a year for someone to polish my OEM stainless window trim and Paint Divider... I stumble on a guy here local that does this kind of stuff... so I took the stainless to him and was talking to him about my Carb. Air Scoops wanting them polished... so I took them to him and this is the before and after...

WOW A 406 Donovan motor... That is soooo cool... by the time It is all said and done I am sure I will have close to 9k in this little mouse motor with all the accessories attached... I am looking at doing a March Serpentine belt system on it so that will drive it up some and using a small high power starter... all thisng are equal to your cubic dollars... Right?... LOL

A word of caution on using March. Their systems look great, but their idler pulleys are JUNK! Be prepared to do some research and find a pulley that will fit in place of their idlers. The idler pulleys are made in China and have sealed bearings, so you can't disassemble and re-grease them. I've had one of their kits with three idler pulleys on my GTO for over a decade now (they were the only ones on the market at the time for a Pontiac motor). I had 5 different idlers squeal within a year of use, and even as short as 2 weeks of use (all at different times). And it only gets louder when the engine warms up.

Look into one of their kits that does not have an idler pulley, and has an automatic tensioner. Or look into one of the other companies like Vintage Air or Billet Specialties to name a couple.

Re: Raymond

If you run the Vintage Air "Front Runner" system, it will have everything like the obvious brackets, pulleys and hardware, and a new water pump, power steering pump and AC compressor. Same with the Billet Specialties system. I believe the other companies out there like Eddie Motorsports has a system like that that comes with everything as well. Unfortunately, none of them will sell the stuff without those items. I've asked.

March has systems that are similar to the others I've mentioned, but I believe they are the same, all come with the accessories. If you try to buy one of their brackets and pulleys kits, just stay away from the ones that have idler pulleys (the small ones that almost look like alternator pulleys between the larger pulleys).
