Randy,
Sounds like a fun trip you had, glad the truck got lots of lookers for all your hard work. Is it running better?

Yea it's running some what better. Still may have to go back through and adjust the valves again. Still has alittle jump in the idle.

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

well I'm officially on the road got a sticker today, I've made 2 trips to the dump and to the store and to get a hair cut...sure have been a lot of rubber neckers looking Coot Coot.
I may need it next week as the weather forecast is calling for snow early next week, so I may have to use it...But that's why I wanted an ole truck 4x4. I'll tell ya it sure does feel good driving her down the road...

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

well I thought I would try out theory and it did work, I took a cheapo tarp should have been a better quality, anywho I spread it out in front of the truck and got out there before too much snow got on it and pulled the corners back over on itself and wala it never snowed in front of my truck... Then I thought it's only 20 degrees and I really don't have any place to go so why put the ole truck through that and get road salt all underneath it.. so there...

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

well I ventured out in the snow prolly about 10" and my road hasn't been scraped yet so it was on an incline which I knew was going to be fun, but I must say she's a keeper I made it out and made it back, went to my brothers and while I didn't get stuck she would go alittle with turning the steering wheel back and forth pull up back up and she finally came out, but I didn't get stuck, and all the up my hill she would dig down and keep on keep on....Oh and BTW it's really hard to take any pixs while driving wished I could have..

It didn't work for me either T.J. I was trying it on here first before I posted it over on the 73 on up site, It was a 70's chevy 4x4 Sport Truck that James Garner personally owned..
But the link didn't work for me either...

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

Well went and listen to my new power plant a 402 Big Block..she puuuuuured like a kitten.Click the picture to hear it run
. As it turned out it belonged to an old friend from way back, I took my ole truck and went to move my truck to load it and my starter gave up the ghost, so I had to have him bring me and my son home. I'll have to go back on sat. to remove and get another starter so I can bring her home...

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build

Well as it turned out it wasn't the starter it was the connection at the cable to the clamp, once we redid it she fired right up, drove her home with the new engine in the back, gotta order some headers for her, and gather up some altenator brackets and power steering brackets..but I have another project going on as soon as the weather breaks and it has here this week. I've been on Vac. this week in the Tenn. Smokey Mountains, the weather here has been in the 80's been really nice but I'm getting ancy about the truck..
I have to do some more clearing off brush to get ready for some fill dirt hopefully for a new garage later this yr...so it might be a while for I get to do an engine swap...I've already had a friend wanting to buy the 402..
