If the PO hadn't painted the windshield and door window frames black, then I definitely would have gone with white on the grille and mirrors. I almost had the body shop repaint the frames orange when I was having the PO's body damage to the driver side front fender, door and bed fender repaired, but it was gonna cost more than I was willing to spend.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Got my rear end back from the shop that narrowed it.
Ordered new axles, bearings, and retaining plates from Moser.
Started installing the Vintage Air.
Pulled the instrument panel, to gain access to the fuel injection wiring, so I could remove it.
Welded the brake push rod to the CPP hydroboost rod.
Brainstorming how the heck I’m gonna fit two 16” fans in front of the A/C now...

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Made a proper homemade spray booth worked out well was going to buy a blow up booth on Amazon but for one hood wasn’t worth the expense . Still might when I do my next project. Came out nice for a heavy metallic single stage paint . I used an old truck of adding clear to the cup on the last two coats

It’s not perfect have a spot of metallic mottling and a little dust in the paint . I think it came off of me walking past the fan I believe I can nib it with 3000 or 5000 paper and polish it won’t be perfect but very acceptable . Next time I’ll get a tyvek suit

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I have a truck cover ordered, so I pulled it out of the garage to dust it off and detail it.
Took it for a (no current license tabs) spin around the neighborhood.
Gonna have to chase down a rattle and a squeak inside the cab.
It was a beautiful day here in the PNW.

Mark, Is the fan sucking vapors out of the tent or getting filtered fresh air in?

It’s a positive ventilation system . It’s pushing filtered air into the booth . I would have used the explosion proof exhaust fan I have to exhaust the overspray but it’s to big would have pulled in the walls . The mist and exhaust went out from the other side . I’m sure a lot went out in the gaps around the top and side walls .

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

not very glamourous but had to be done.i screwed up last year when i ordered 4 new 9.5x16.5 Firestone Transforce 10 ply tires.i forgot about the spare so i ordered another new tire, painted up the wheel and the spare tire carrier and put it all back under the truck like it's supposed to be(don't know why cause i don't have the jack but easier to find a jack on the road than a 16.5 tire)that'll do til i dream up something else to do?

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I picked up a pair of Chevrolet script valve covers at a swap meet father's day weekend. Got them stripped, cleaned, and painted last weekend. Slipped out to the shop last evening and swapped them out with the originals.
Next up is putting new speedo gear in the transmission to see if I can get it a bit more accurate. About 4-5 mph slow right now.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I have my 4/5 drop completed with front disc brake conversion - drop spindles and 2" springs plus 3" springs in the rear (had 2 inch blocks prior) - very happy with all of the results.

Great LWB stance Ned.
May I ask what size tires and wheels you are showing off.
Thanks, Sam

Put the hood on . Easy when you have 5 people helping took a few minutes to line up but the fit is very good hood latch isn’t on yet so it pops up
