Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver

Thanks.

I got the gauge panel in, lots of wiring. I had to use a pull up resistor to get the tach to work and had to run a new wire from the computer to the speedo. Kinda nice having full gauges being I've been driving the truck for the past two weeks with no gauges. Finally this project is going how I originally planned it.
The new bed should be ready this week

As much as I can! Mostly just planning on hitting the swap meets and just driving around.

Thanks, For the speedo, just run a wire from the computer pin 50 on the red/green connector. I tried splicing into the high side of the VSS like the Lt1swap says............but when I hooked up the speedo the trans wouldnt even shift. The tach is pin 10 on the red/greed connector with a 1k ohm resistor added between the signal wire and 12v. like this:

I've put about 150 mile on her so far as my DD. Drop spindles, and new shocks on order...... tired of bottoming out way too easy. Front end will be completely rebuilt, already have the rest of the parts. Also started rebuilding a set of vent windows, should have pics tomorrow.

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver

Thanks for the info on the speedo and Tach. I will save it for future reference. Mines kinda on hold until I get some other things around here done.

That's awesome you are getting to drive it daily. How is that power plant working out for you? I have read nothing but good about the LS swaps. I have a 4.8 too how is the power compared to say a stock slightly modded 350combo?

Power is great, about that same power as a mild small block, but the power band is broader and WAY smoother. You should even have a little more, mine has the big/heavy 4l80e behind it.

Like this? Had it out for Crusin' the Coast.

Had the wing windows re-set at a glass shop.

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver

Ok, now goals for the truck.
1. I have a pair of rust free doors I need to paint then re build with all the parts and install.
2. Get the new bed on.
3. Rebuild the front end.
4. Replace trailing arm bushings and paint trailing arms.
5. Interior.
