Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Got the transmission back. But there is a problem with the converter. It will not fully seat. Has me stumped never had this problem . So I'm bringing to the shop to let them figure it out. I got the converter from them as part of the rebuild. But I did manage to get the trans crossmember out. What a *****. Ended up grinding and drilling out the rivets that hold the wings on. Really see no reason for them but I'll just bolt them back in place. The crossmember was in remarkably good shape.

This reminds me. My sister told me be careful of handling bags of mulch and potting soil. Someone she knows found a snake and eggs in a bag that had either a hole in it or had been previously opened.

Went to get knobs but left with manual column and the whole dash. Pumped on cluster with no cracks and throttle knob. Also, put two windows in the camper shell. Need to finish before car show next weekend.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

New master cylinder on the 68 and adjusted the brakes. New motor mounts on the 72. Transmission guy called the trans is all ready to go. He had to change the front bearing again now the converter slides right in .

Dash installation is complete on the 71 K10 Cheyenne. New Saddle dash pad, new cluster housing, new heater ducting, new steering wheel. Factory tilt column cleaned up nicely. Doors are next, then carpet and I'll finally get the Truck World Super Saddle seat in it. Can't wait

New shifter for the 5 speed. Looks more 1967. I'm thinking it needs more character, maybe some sweeping bends.

Yes. I don't have a pic from the side but it is approximately even with the bottom of the frame rail, you can see the headers a little bit though.

I keep missing your replies. Hedman 68190, for 68-72 Chevelle I painted them with Rustoleum high heat paint. Don't have the $$$$ for Jet Hot coating...

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

After putting the shroud and fan on and taking it off at least 5 times...
I finally got my truck upgraded to a fan clutch, closed coolant system, new 6 bladed fan, new raidaitor with new hoses and clamps! Also learned how to bend some new transmission cooling lines. Easier than I expected.
Very excited to put it all back together.

I'm afraid we're going to need more than just "the small blue unit". Even zooming in I can't read the brand name on it.
