Re: Old Yeller's new heart-5.3/4l60 swap!

It was great to hang out with you guys last weekend. I could have sat there all weekend, if not for the girl folk that was with me.

JB- anytime, really enjoyed it.

Les- thanks, he's moving slowly, but he's good.

In truck news, I put in a different drive shaft from a 98 silverado this weekend, and new u joints. Lots better. Was running 80+ down the interstate nicely. I think it's just tires now. Now to chase down some rattles In the door.

More info about the drive shaft? I have a little vibration in mine at 85-up. I was this 98 a direct swap? When I had mine built it was suppose to be balanced but not too sure about how well they got the job done.
Dang I hate the door rattles....

Re: Old Yeller's new heart-5.3/4l60 swap!

Mike, it came from a '98 scsb v6/auto. Yoke and all, $25. Kicker is, someone pulled the rearend, it was literally hanging there. Reached down and pulled it out. Took a hybrid u-joint that was in stock.

I have an update, but gotta do pics tonight after dinner.

Re: Old Yeller's new heart-5.3/4l60 swap!

So, I've been needing to update. We did the World of wheels, so here we go.

Aaron got his Permit to drive. He drove home from the DMV in Big Black. 48 hours later, he drove me to Bartle to load in in Yeller. That was kinda neat.

We saw Eric and Vic and the lovely Miss Kathy, and our friend Jimmy, who had some cars in as well.

We get situated on Sat. and having a nice time and a guy comes by holding an award. "where'd you get that?" "They handed them out a while ago. You should go check, this is a nice truck." So we traipse off to see, and wait in a big line. They look us up, and damn if we didn't win first in class. We were shocked.

Then we had to leave, and it was snowing. So, we hit the road, and drove 'er home in the snow.

Just been working since, the weather's gone to crap.

Hope I can post some pics, we'll see.

Pretty scary! Glad that Vern and Tilly (his dog) apparently escaped without major injuries. No doubt they'll be sore for awhile, though. We'll be pulling for them to recover quickly.

What a shame to lose Yeller, especially to a serial drunk driver.

Thanks guys. I've literally never won anything, so it was kinda neat. I think Boppa was in shock. Now it goes back to bein' a Lab Hauler!

Checkin in here. Read all of both of these threads. Great truck and I had a good time reading along. Is LBT getting a little attention now?

I'm down man!! I should be waking my thread up a little here soon with an update. Knuckles has been turning and burning too. We've got a sweet row of bikes going this year. And a GoPro!!!
