Re: Raymond

Ok Gang... it has been a little while since I have done any updates... over the last 2 months we have been dealing with alot of personal things so it is said that sometimes life gets in the way of what "we" want but also sometimes death does... My Mother n Law came down very ill the first of February and we lost her the end of February so we have been running back and forth to Colorado... Mostly me doing the back and forth my wife spent the entire month of February in Colorado so I was having to spend more time working so I was working for two then on the weekends running to Colorado to take my wife the things she needed and to support her and her family... We are having the funeral this Saturday and then hopefully we can move on with life...

The Truck has basically not had anything done to it outside of the Front Fenders, an Hood have for the most part been final block sanded and paint ready... I did get a call From Chris Carlson's Hot Rods and My Vintage Air Unit came in today so I went over and picked it up...

That was for the most part the final piece to the puzzle outside of obviously the small stuff... I also have the Drive Shaft and to find someone to actually rebuild the transmission... I also have to decide on who to use on the interior...

I am sure that I will stumble on another road block but I can at least see that light waaaaay down there at the end of the tunnel...

Dan, sorry to hear of your Mother in law passing. Projects sure take a low priority when the serious issues of life hit us. Prayers for the family.

Re: Raymond

My condolences to your wife and you on her mother's passing...

I just started to read your thread, and the heartbreak of the first "post-recovery" picture just ripped me.

I'm glad Raymond came into being, and kudos to you for all your hard work.

Re: Raymond

It has been a while since the last update on Raymond... Color is starting to flow... and we have been honored to be one of the featured trucks on the T-Shirt for a local Wichita, Ks show...

We have basically the complete front clip painted and the inside of the cab... if all goes well ( so far that hasn't happened) we will be painting the outside and the bed wither this coming weekend or at least the following weekend... From there it goes back to Chris Carlson's Hot Rods to have the wiring completed as well has having the Airconditioner installed...

Jett Transmission in Colwich, Ks has taken on to do a limited sponsorship and is building the TH-400 to go behind the AWESOME 327 mouse motor that Patterson Racing built for Raymond...

Here is where we are at the moment:

Love the color, Dan. Looks like it will be a dead on match to the rendering. Can't wait to see the rest of the parts and how it looks after cut and buff.

Re: Raymond

I just got these pictures from a fellow Board Member (70shortfleet) that has been working on the steering Column Conversion... He disassembled the column, painted it the color of the truck and installed the Dakota Digital Cruise Control/Turn signal arm... He is getting it ready to ship back to me...

Thanks Man... I wanted something a little different than what most guys do but also try to stay true to the original paint scheme so I just thought a simple soft blue and pure white would be one of those things that people would look at it and go "somethings different"... LOL

Re: Raymond

Ok... Here is a update... no pics but here is what has been going on with the truck... We have it all ready to paint had it ready last weekend but the wind was freaking nuts...

I am painting this in my garage so wind is a real problem... with any luck it is to rain Saturday so maybe that will hold the wind down and we can get color on the cab and the bed....

Re: Raymond

Why does the wind matter in your garage? I'm no painter at all, but doesn't the humidity in the air matter for your paint job as well?

Re: Raymond

LOk Huys... here is a update... I don't have any pictures but here you go...

We had the cab and bed ready to paint last weekend but the wind was horrible... We are painting this in our garage so the wind is a major factor... This coming weekend it is suppose to rain (no big deal) and hopefully that will hold the wind down so I can paint... I will need most all day to paint it...

Once the cab and bed are painted we will set the Engine and transmission in... Then all that is left is to paint the doors before it all starts going together...

We were trying to make a June 12th deadline to have it running but it is looking pretty grim to actually meet that date...

Money is becoming a factor... The fricking government has wacked me pretty hard on my taxes this year... Being a self employed businessman makes you a target for the corrupt government...

When the wind is blowing it creates dirt which in a garage that at best has poor ventilation so in order to exhaust the overspray out you really need to have the doors open or at minimum cracked open...

Yes the Humidity does impact paint work but mostly in the drying process... so when the humidity is high the paint stays wet longer which with the wind allows more time for dirt to blow into it...

I am hoping to start shooting about 4:00 AM Saturday morning so with the high humidity that we experience it will be late afternoon at best before I am doing the final cleaning of the paint guns...
