Haha yea its a little here and there with this truck. Trying to get it done as well as bus customer trucks in a out as quickly as possable. We are fixing to be taking on 3 very large builds. So I am kinda slowing things down for those. So this truck is nickle and dimming me to death at the 11th hour cuz funds are slowing down as well. lol.

Re: Honest Abe's Shop Truck build

Well a slight update....

Got the tranny cross member installed and removed the stock one. Got the rear bars mocked up and tacked. Will finish weld them tomorrow and possably start on the bag mounts.

I meant to have pics today but I left my camera at the house on accident. So I will post them tomorrow.

They have tabs on the bottom of the plates that slide inside the box and they will be drilled and tapped with bolts going through the sides of the box to hold them down.

And thats for the comments guys.

Re: Honest Abe's Shop Truck build

What is the purpose of the U shaped bracket that is welded on top of the rear? I see it's not there in the last pics.

Looks like a guard for the rearend that they tried to incorperate into the rear bridge for protection incase it hits to low when deflated...just my guess tho lol

Wow.

I'm usually not one to dig the extreme mods done to some trucks. But. Wow.

You guys are doing a stand up job, and making it look easy in the mean time!

Keep at it, I can't wait to see how this one turns out.

This bracket was to be used for the upper mount on a wishbone style 4 link. But after changing the design considerably we decided again this and removed it for the latter bars.

Thanks again for all the positive feedback. It is greatly appreciated.

Re: Honest Abe's Shop Truck build

are you going to use the stock lower arms up front? If you are be sure to post pics of the lower arms and how you clearanced them so the bags dont rub.

Re: Honest Abe's Shop Truck build

Yes I do plan to run the stock lowers for now. I removed the factory bump stops and mounts. I dont see any issues in rubbing with the upper plates and the lower cup mounts. I have not gotten to assembly on the front yet but I will see whats up as I go. I will probably do the mock up tomorrow night on the front now that you mention it.

Re: Honest Abe's Shop Truck build

Im sure you prolly know this, but...
If you are planning to lay frame & still run the stock lower A-arms, then you wont get by with using the cups

Here is what I did to mine & even that wont lay you out

Hmm this I did not know. Thanks for the heads up. I will have to look into that today. I assumed between the 3" drop spindles and cutting the cups down that it would be sufficient. I am sure I would have realized this upon assembly but that would just be a hassel.

Again this is our first Pre-80's truck that were laying out. We have mostly built all S-series for the past couple of years.... So these are new to us. This truck is kinda a guinnie pig for future builds to come. So that we have a little back round in the older truck scene.

Thanks again for the info
