Re: Question about rear coils?

that was the reason for shock # 32207, but even with a proper shock, the angle is to great for the shock to be effective, even one a stock truck..

Re: Question about rear coils?

this link mentions another link which I've also added:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ock+relocation

http://talk.classicparts.com/showpos...8&postcount=51

you may run into driveline vibration with this much drop due to unequal u-joint angles so you might want to check and fix while under there

Re: Question about rear coils?

Larry I had five inch drop in before, no vibration at all, I changed to four inch drop do to no load carrying capacity, plus the rear mounted tank I installed. I will still move the shocks to the out side of the rame rails as soom as I get mounts made up and installed with pics...

Re: Question about rear coils?

hey Rich. I understand. from what I can tell, most people don't have any problem. just thought that while he was under there it might be a good time to check the angles.

And I've thought about redoing my shocks the way you're describing. the "relocator" kit helps a little but there's still a pretty large angle even with just the 3" drop. the regular drop springs are so wimpy I ended up buying an overload bag setup. I was going to share for the OP but haven't found a link yet.

Re: Question about rear coils?

I believe it is No Limit Engineering that makes a kit for relocating the shock to outside the frame.

Re: Question about rear coils?

Captfab I did see those mounted on a '65' short bed, they were just ok, but I really did not like the away they were mounted, maybe it was the owner install but they looked as if they had a shock that was way to long, and the mounts looked a little on the weak side, I do have a plan I will get to soon....
