Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
It doesn't get much better than this.... Nothing screams old school like red oxide and chrome. Awesome truck!

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
You are so right. But I have to becareful I don't stray too far off the reservation, LOL. I was telling a friend that in order to do all the different things you want to do to a '55 to '59 Chevy / GMC you would have to have at least 3 or four trucks to show off all the mods you want to do. If I tried to do everythng I like to one truck it would look like the Circus is coming to town. I won't mention any names but I am on Hub Garage too, and there is this very talented metal fabricator. And man he has done so much stuff to his ride the vehicle isn't recognizable any more in my humble opinion. Your truck and your friends red '58 blown Chevy pick up are just KILLER . Thanks for dropping by.

Thank you lakeroadster, but glad to finally get out of that primer and put some paint on it after I finish up with all the body repairs and minor mods.

Thanks Kim57. I am currently cleaning up the dash a little. Going to remove some knobs weld up some holes and remove and fill in the ash tray. Trying to make the Dash look less busy.

Picture of Kabwe's truck http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=318301 and mine in the back groundReplacing the old weak battery tray with a stronger one. Smoothed out the lips on the bed edges where the gate closes. Also replacing the old weak battery tray for a stronger one I put together.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
Replacing the old weak battery tray for a stronger one I put together. Picture of the bed before the stke pockets were welded shut and bed rails rounded. Welded tail gate cover on gate and removed rivits. That's a JC Penny stainless steel 6 qt. spaghetti pot behind the fuel cell cut up and reshaped to cover the fuel Fram flter. The filter and hard lines were not attractive so I came up with the pot idea to hide it.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
Who said you can't do anything with a long bed step side. Here is a fine example of what can be done to a long bed. The first one is a '56 GMC put together by Erik & Perry out of Arizona. The big push bumper was only there to push start a front motor dragster for the Cackle Fest. I met them and their truck at the 18th California Hot Rod Reunion 2009. Anybody on here recognize this truck or know the owner? Tell them to join this site. Erik & Perry also built a blown '55 or '58 Chevy pick up not sure of the year. Sure would like to see the pictures posted up here.
The next truck is off the chain. I took these pictures of it at the local cruz-nite spot in Inglewood Calif. The paint on this thing is AWESOME!

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
Here some pictures of two long beds. Makes you think twice before you turn your nose up at a long bed step side. These are two perfect examples of what can be done. The
'56 GMC was at the 18th California Hot Rod Reunion 2009. The bumper on the front was for push starting a front motor dragster. Erik & Perry out of Arizon put this best together. If anybody on here knows these guys and thir truck tell them to join. They also built a blown '55 or '58 Chevy pick up with a modern bed. The next truck I shot pics of was at the local cruz nite I go to some times in Inglewood, Ca. This thing is off the chain. Who said Long beds don't look good?

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
What size is the pipe that you use for the rounded corners on the bed? I would like to do this mod sometime in the future.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up
I bought a 1 5/8" mandrel-bent j-pipe or u-pipe from Jegs. The kind of pipe for making and welding up your own headers.
