The exhaust hangars that you said was bolted to the back of the rear crossmember seems like it is 3 or so inches too far forward. I was wondering if maybe yours is mounted further back. I may have to have a muffler shop reweld the collector and add a few inches of pipe there.
My motor does sit pretty close to the firewall. I think previous owner used 6 cyliner motor stands instead of the factory V8 ones.
Looks like you will need to move it back and and reweld the collector.

What kind of clearance do you have? Mine were pretty close also. I think it's the nature of the beast. Here's a few pictures.

Re: Complete SWB exhaust system

My truck originally had drum brakes, I wonder if that could be the difference in the lines. I would probably just bend the line a little further away from the header and it should be OK. See Post above for the other questions.

Re: Complete SWB exhaust system

Yeah, I was planning on getting new stainless brake lines anyway, so I guess I'll route them a little further away.

I think it might be better to keep the sb motor stand and modify the exhaust so I don't cause a whole lot of other problems by moving the motor back.
