I saw this burb on CL for many many weeks, glad someone on here got it and we look forward to seeing this 4 door burb project make it's debut....although, I hate to see a "rare" 3 door burb join the not so rare ranks j/k

BTW... to the boards from NC!!!

Re: 68 Four door build

Glad to hear it was a trouble free trip! That's always good. Is the front axle a D44 or a D70 added by a conversion company?

Re: 68 Four door build

That suburban has been for sale for nearly a year starting at $3,500.00, lowering it bi-weekly I believe. I started calling him when it got down to $2,400.00, but he never returned my calls or answered the phone. I was hoping to keep it original and call it the "Prospecter"(?) as in "one looking for gold".

It said it had a special generator, but not what was on the roof, Is that some sort of a/c unit? Still hate to see this one cut up. If you weren't so far away I'd see if you would trade for my originally big block (no running gear) C-20 suburban.

Re: 68 Four door build

The suburban is Extremely rare! A 1 ton dually 4 wheel drive suburban?!?!!! Very Rare! I'd restore the burb and find another donor, it would be a shame to cut her up!

Your donor truck is a Longhorn. Wish I was closer, I'd love to have that bed.

Re: 68 Four door build

I have to follow my dream. That suburban sat in the dessert for the last 20 years waiting for me to drag it out of there. 998 miles and 99 gallons of gas later she is finally home.
Posted via Mobile DeviceI payed the asking price of $1400.00 for it. I couldn't pass it up.

Glad you're going to do the 4th door....will be a lot of work but WELL WORTH IT!!! Will put this build over the top on the cool factor!!!

Which front end are you going with? Short or long bed and stock height, lifted, or lowered?
I'm still not sure what I'm doing with the stock 2011 front end. I might just leave it alone for now , it has struts and rack and pinion steering.short bed.

Re: 68 Four door build

If you could see inside you would say this is the perfect prospector. The generator could probably run a welder it is so big

The guy you were talking to didn't own it he was selling it for the original owners daughter. It has some huge generator under the hood and a roof air unit on it as well as three gas tanks that hold well over the 100 gallon mark.

I wonder if the original owner of your suburban knew the original owner of this one?

Re: 68 Four door build

Just to let every one know I have a 7-4 job daily and go to my shop to work on my other projects so I can get them done then I will be able to tear into this one.But you know how it goes , I will be pulling the mirrors and front end off of it tomorrow.

This is one of the other projects.
I painted it 5 years ago and put it under a cover up until a month a go . I just put a bed kit in it and installing a 700r4 at this time.

sorry about the bad pictures, my phone pictures.
