My 58 build

Haven't gotten much done for awhile. I just pickup the drive shaft that I had made, all brand new and pretty! Now that the drive line is more or less complete I started making the wiring harness so that I can start it and move it around. Doors are repaired and hung, inner fenders on.. so some progress... pic's soon

Spent a couple of days patching the doors and fenders. mounted passenger door and fender worked on getting door fitted and gaps adjusted. front door edge needed some welding to make the gap about even.

Looks like some good progress.

What brake pedal setup did you go with? I like how it fits.
What shifter linkage? That looks nice 2.

I used a RV steering column (Alot like a van column and bought a billet stainless knuckle & idler (Heim Joint) from flaming river). It went together in about an hour. I'll post some picture later.

Could you take some pictures of the brake pedal setup under dash?

First time I have seen this type of repair done. Don't worry about the looks, I tip my hat to you, that is not an easy fix I am so glad I did not have that problem..... haha better you then me. Truck looking good keep the pics coming.

I used CPP bake set up and lokar shifter linkage. Pedal and master cylinder mounted with easily.

Had a minor set back. Had gotten far enough along so that I could start the engine before I had too much assembled .....and...... bad intake valve,, so apart things went.... now back together and running. almost finished the engine wiring and under dash...also changed steering column mounting, almost back to where I was before the holidays!

i like your build nordic. anything that gm made is 58 is my favorite.

a comment on cutting the stock trans mount out; notice that it is also the main support for your cab mounts.
if you don't replace it with another x-member that resists the weight of the cab from twisting the frame,
your front cab mounts will sag after you get all the weight of the truck built on it.
as the cab mounts drop, the front fender fit will get tight at the top and open at the bottom.
you've seen where some took pliers to bend the back of the front fender so it quits pinching the door,
this is from the front rubber cab mounts disintegrating, but the same thing will happen.

i cut my trans support out and replaced it with a fully boxed frame and a heavy duty x-member with ties to the cab mounts.

Have not posted in while, got alot of painting done, grille and bumper installed, wiring harnes fabbed and installed, windshield installed today. starting to look like a truck!

Working on getting the bed painted and reassembled. Install wheels and tires. Mounted electric choke kit (EC3) I got off ebay. Older style qjet on newer intake.

Finished seat mounting and installed seats. Also started bed installation and staining/varnishing wood

are you going to use fender welting?
it hides a lot of stuff



if so... i used 3m double sided tape to hold the welting on the fender
makes it easy to cut out for bolts and bends

did you use the tape idea?
haven't figured a better way to do it.

I used 3m weather strip adhesive. I "tacked" it in spots and held with plastic squeeze clamps so I could stretch it around the curves and cut and glue as I went. stretched nice, had the sun warming it up, let glue set then installed.
