Re: New project "time capsule"

Well, from what I can feel, it's super solid in the rockers and cab corners. I can't get under the truck to see the floors.. I know, I know, I'm planning on getting it pulled out this Saturday. LOL... I'm excited to check out all of the "trouble" areas myself. I will get pics up this weekend.. I did do some research after my last visit there and it still has the orig 327 4barrel in it. It still has the 3 on the tree. I've got a tilt column for an auto, but thinking about keeping the orig. column and shifter. After talking to the orig. owner he said that he was having trouble from day 1 with the linkage binding up so.. maybe a floor shift is in order.. I don't know which way to go yet. I enjoy banging through the gears so I'll probably stick to a manual set up.. Anyone need a tilt column for an automatic ??

Re: New project "time capsule"

Ok, pulled out of the weeds. I think I got taken on this one. The owner is a little up there in years and seems to have remember things that he forgot to mention when we first talked about me buying this. Apparently, it's got a '68 bed on it, with the marker lights filled. And it's missing a hubcap. I probably should have left it sit.. LOL... Anyway, its out now and doesn't look too bad after a quick car wash. I will get more detailed pics up tonight.

Re: New project "time capsule"

I kinda like the black with red interior, don't know if I want to go back to a powder blue original color. I've got to say, I don't remember ever seeing one without at least a little rust in the rockers and cab corners or floors.. I'm glad I joined the site and looking forward to getting some ideas on which way to go with this "last hoorah". Got the kids ready to go cleaning out what's left of the interior. More pics here in a little bit... Thanks all...

Re: New project "time capsule"

I would have never noticed the filled 68+ bed.. my grin would have been making my eyes squint too much.

Re: New project "time capsule"

Floor, cab corners and inside rocker panels.. I think I'm just going to get door handles (one broken), a new gas tank, carpet kit and a door/window weatherstrip kit, one hubcap and just RUN IT, as is....

Re: New project "time capsule"

I've been seeing alot about a truck show in White House,TN. on the threads. Is it worth driving 6 1/2 hours to go to? Parts, swap meet, show, etc? Just trying to get involved in some local (somewhat) events to pass the summer weekends when I dont go home. Any suggestions?

Oh yes! You need to come, I am spending the summer with my wife's family in east Tennessee working on their home. ( a ton of hail damage) Anyways I could meet you in Knoxville and we could have us a little C-10 caravan!
