Re: 1970bowtie's SWB build thread
havent updated in a while..as of now the clip and bed of my truck are off and awaiting the motor, meanwhile ive been rattle caning the frame.i drilled the old locking cylinder out,got some door locks that i have keys too.found a long water pump set up in the junk yard.and got all my engine parts finally and have been waiting for my blazer tank to show up, it finally got here this evening. it was kind of beat up with dents here and there...but thats lmc for you i guess
the truck is going to start getting assembled tomorrow, so maybe itll be street legal before i have to go back the school

Re: 1970bowtie's SWB build thread
well, got my motor and trans sitting in the truck, need to bolt on my accessories, wire everything, find some trans cooler lines and crank her up..then we need to replace everything for back brakes, and get new pads, and lines for the front.replace the wind shield, get it aligned, registered, inspected and insured. and then it'll be on the road. but i dont think im gonna be able to get all that done by the end of this week...so it looks like im gonna be riding the bus to school......

i think we could get it running by the end of this week.. its all the little things that take time.
matt, when you bagged your truck all you did was take out the coils and put the bags in right? and if you dont mind, how much did that cost...im thinking about doing that to mine. well, im going to take some pics.

Re: 1970bowtie's SWB build thread
well...tried to install my cross member, and it didn't line up thanks to the p/o installed late model motor mounts, which isn't a big deal, but still a set back. next i wanted to see if my drive shaft would fit right since the motor set farther back. turns out it dosen't sit in the rear yoke right, and is way to short. so apparently i was given the wrong drive shaft when i bought my truck. so its looking like i wont even have the truck cranked this week..

Re: 1970bowtie's SWB build thread
Lookin' good Justin, you will proabably be better off just seeing how long you need your drive shaft and take it to Tyler and have it done. Will probably save alot of running around.

Great looking project... I wish I could come up with a fairly rust free SWB for $400.
Any progress??

Re: 1970bowtie's SWB build thread
I havent updated in forever...i bet u guys think im dead or something, truth is i came close. i was riding with a friend a couple of months ago and we hit a tree doing about 75 the seat belt didnt catch and my face hit the wind sheild hard enough to knock a hole through the safety glass, as i bounced back from the windsheild i took out the passenger window with my right elbow and hit the door frame so hard i broke a rib. that wasnt a pleasant experience i took 4 stiches to the lip because it was cut in half, and 2 more stiches to the elbow. ill add a pic of me in the hospital that night. so, anyways thats partly why i havent updated, and ive been busy with school and other things.. well ill add some pics

Re: 1970bowtie's SWB build thread
Dangit Man! Good thing you're OK. A friend of mine and I were flying around a curve too fast in POS Chevy Monza years ago and the same thing happened to him. The seat belt didn't lock and he bent the steering wheel and hit his head on the glass.
