With the Dropmember you need to bend the sway bar end in 1" on each side since the the track width is narrowed by 1".

This is the from the Man him self.

Re: porterbuilt dropmember questions

That's correct on the sway bar. The trac width is narrowed up one inch per side on the Dropmember, so the sway bar will need to do the same. The sway bar needs to be the end-link style as well. The last one I had done, I called Addsco and had them bend me the bar one inch extra per side. I am assuming most other manufacturers will do the same? It shouldn't be an issue having one bent if you already have purchased it... just don't heat it up to bend it!

I do know the factory bar will not work. It may be necessary to fabricate some tabs, or order some pre-made generic tabs to attach to the factory arms. I know Adsco's (sp?) kit comes with brackets that bolt/weld to the factory lower arm to allow the mounting point for the end-link. Another thing on my "to do" list is check into a camaro sway-bar for the 70's era and see if it's compatible. I have one on the shelf... now if I could only find two more days in the week...

What's the best backspacing to run on the front with the dropmember.? Looking at a 20x8 wheel.

It narrows it just over an inch on each side, that makes it a little over 2" overall. I know I posted 4" a long time ago... it was an error on my part.

backspacing was one of my first questions too.
*i always think of more questions. heres some more:
*does anyone have the big block dropmember in a 73-87?
*if i bought one set up for the big block, could i run my small block on it until i could afford to build my big block?
*is there any more clearance issues with a bbc?
*can i run shorty c10 headers?? or even the chevelle shorty's?

sorry for not just calling and asking all these questions but i do believe others want to know so im putting it all in a public forum. also, im always thinking of more and more questions and i probably won't have enough money for at least another month. thanks.

A Dropmember, an ART lower Strong Arm, a stock height spindle, and a 26" tall tire will set your rails on the ground in a 63-72 C-10.

Or

A Dropmember, a 73-87 lower arm (with PB lower bag mount), and a 2.5" spindle, with a 26" tall tire will bury your rails in a 63-72 C-10.

Ask all the questions you can think of here... so others can benefit as well.

-As for backspacing, we have been running 20x8.5" wheels with 5.25 to 5.5 backspacing with good results.
-Nobody has ordered a BBC Dropmember for the 73-87... yet. There will be clearance issues at the trans tunnel/floor. Not much cutting required... but it will need to be cut.
-You can run the small block in the Dropmember with the BBC mounting tabs. (the difference in SBC,BBC, and GenIII mounts on the Dropmember are the tabs on the crossmember. The BBC tabs are just over 1/2" taller than the SBC tabs. So, you can run a SBC with the tabs for a BBC, but not the other way around. The GenIII tabs are completely different).
-The shorty chevelle/camaro headers will work best.

Re: porterbuilt dropmember questions

Would there be any diffence in backspacing options since I am going with 18x8 or 18x9. I need to get my front's ordered, and did not know if there was any difference since I am not doing a 20+

What tire size are you planning on running Jason? If it's in the 27" tall ballpark, the backspacing will need to be the same.

With this dropmember installed, will it be possible to bolt in an aftermarket sway bar?

Yes, but requires modification. You need to bend the bars in 1" per side due to the narrowing of the track width. You also need to use end link syle sway bar.
