Looking good, Make sure you didn't get any sand in your motor. I did the same thing, but got sand in it. I had to take the motor apart to clean it.
Nice blaster mines about the same. Brand new after using it for 2 minutes the presure hose running from the top to the bottom blew apart.

I should have taken more pics but as u can see they are so blurry its almost pointless...theres really no fine detail.

Did most of it last night...All i can say is its a good thing im covering it up cuz i basically beat the crap out of it with a hammer to get it tight enough for welding.

Re: What i thought was the start of my 63 lwb build

Yep trying to move quickly Already got 130-150hrs in it in the first month tryin to finsih up by end of October. We'll see if that happens...

Being that i was buying a whole bunch of stuff from LMC I went with them...Free shipping on all of it and because im in canada and i have to drive tothe border and get the stuff. One easy to track easy to pickup shipment is prefferable.

And from what ive read on here its doesnt matter where u order from they never fit right anyway. They were generally the right shape. LOL

Re: What i thought was the start of my 63 lwb build

So im putting the 350 TH400 in the truck (keep in mind it has the who front end crossmember and suspension from the 79 on it now) and this is what i come up with

The bolt holes line up on the crossmember and the frame but there is about a one inch gap between the frame rail and the mount....Didnt see that one coming.

Anyone come up agains this before? Im i doing something wrong? Can i just add a spacer?

(who needs bolts anyway seems pretty sturdy just jammin in there like that) LOL

Another question is should i be worried about engine/transmission/drive line angle or is that easy to fix.

Re: What i thought was the start of my 63 lwb build

The motor mount brackets out of a '73-'87 C20 will be shorter and fit the early frame better. It would be a good idea to check your engine/trans to pinion angle. Easier to correct now if need be.

See thats what i thought but this engine and its mounts are out of a 1979 so they should really fit...Im kindof a t a loss with this one.

Re: What i thought was the start of my 63 lwb build

As you can see, the '73-up frames are taller. If you wanna run those perches, I would say you have 3 choices
1. Modify the frame so the perches can lay back further
2. Modify the perches by cutting a chunk out and weld it back together
3. Make a solid spacer to go between the perch and the frame, would look better if you welded, tapered, and smoothed the spacer to the frame.

Another option is to use the '63 perches and mounts or buy after market perches that use what I believe is a car style mount. You can get them from CPP, but they aren't cheap

so there is my 2 pennies

Re: What i thought was the start of my 63 lwb build

I had yet to measure the frame on the 79 but i was starting to think there had to be something different....Im thinking maybe spacer being that the holes line up nicely as it sits. I'll call it an engine lift kit...maybe market it online what do you think?

Re: What i thought was the start of my 63 lwb build

Jory,
wasn't your '79 a C10 (1/2 ton)? What I'm saying you need is the motor mount frame brackets from a '73-'87 C20 (3/4 ton). On the C20's the frame is shorter than on the C10's in the area where the motor mounts attach. Consequently they are closer in height to the '63 frame.

I see now what you mean...wasnt thinking C20.

What do you think about putting a spacer in? Would that be dangers our hurt anything? Its the obviously easiest option but im sure not the best.

I could also try sslidding the bottom holes down a little further and redrilling the holes in the crossmember then tighten the living daylights out of it and try to get it to sit down.( also possibly a bad option)

Or i could go try and find different brackets (lame) LOL

Im so lazy with the stupidest things.

Re: What i thought was the start of my 63 lwb build

Yeah you could just make a spacer to make up the difference if that's what you want to do.
