Re: how about some pics of COEs

Been driving by this place for years (not sure why I never stopped before)
This guy has 10 67-72 trucks and this COE GMC powered by a 348.
He wants 1K for it and its pretty rusty makes me feel good about my panel !
(I got the impression its w/o engine)

$1000 without this?

But for $1000 it probably includes the truck load of moldy seats on the back...

I've stopped and looked at it and pretty much decided I wasn't interested.

If it were a few years newer, a '54 or '55 1st with one piece curved glass and the grill with the mustaches, I might have bought it a couple years ago. But it doesn't fit in my fleet the way it is.

A little WD40 and a buffer, its good as new. What was he asking a couple years ago? (or was it project status then?)

Re: how about some pics of COEs

It was very much for sale at the time.

The for sale sign didn't show the area code and by time I'd determined what the full number would be I'd reached the conclusion it would be a mistake.

I already have two COE's that are not the one I really want, and this would have been the third. My next COE purchase will be a '54 GMC. It might be titled as a '55, but it will be a '54.

And no that is not an offer to buy or sell. I'm not buying anything for at least the next six months for personal reasons that have nothing to do with trucks.

I love that old wrecker! If I could have any COE it would be a '54 GMC with a wrecker body like that.

Re: how about some pics of COEs

A couple years ago I was at a car show talking to a guy about his COE and another guy walked up and asked some questions that showed he knew COE trucks. As we talked it turned out he is the guy that owns and built that '54 Chevy COE with the airstream looking camper. Unfortunately it was not quite finished and he hadn't brought it to the show. He lives in the Vancouver BC area.

Try here.

It helps if you happen to know the guy's name...

Oops, sorry. I didn't mean that '47-53 COE, I meant the dark green one on page 1.

Damn, now I can't get the photo from page one. Oh well, if anyone knows the color of it, I'd appreciate it.

This one?

It feels like a dark olive or something similar. I'm not real strong on colors, but I think I've seen it on a Jag or something else that I don't see real often.

You're welcome. He lives in British Columbia but I've seen him in Puyallup at the Good Guys show and would not be surprised if he were to show this truck there sometime.

Re: how about some pics of COEs

The clip below is the meat of an email I received from the owner of the '54 Chevy COE/Camper. West Coast guys should have an opportunity to see the truck this summer!

I'm not a member of the 67-72 forum, but you can relay the info if you like. I have included the link to the webshot photos of the build. I have built other cars, but this was big and long, about four years. The truck is presently getting upholstery done now so I get a bit of a breather ( not really, I'm doing all the home jobs I've put off).
The truck is on a 17,000GVW motorhome chassis with a with airride (6 bags). The engine is a warmed over 12V Cummins (400HP) wih a 4spd. auto. Rear is a Dana 70 HD with 3:73's and posi. The rear section is all aluminum, scratch built and finished inside with birch and cherry. It has all the creature comforts such as shower, toilet, frig, stove, bed etc. My original vision for the truck was to build a COE with a rear portion like a 30's Bowlus trailer. I wanted all the new tech stuff, but hidden so it would look like it was built in the 50's. Speaking of which it has PS, PB, A/C, P/W, heated seats,Tilt wheel, big stereo, DVD with rear 19" flat screen and 3 rear view cameras. Upholstery should be done in a couple of weeks and I still have lots to do to finish. I would like to thank the guys on the COE site for their help from time to time, as it has been invaluable. Russ

Good Guys in Puyallup is late July and I hope to be there.

For the sake of integrity as I appear to have quoted Russ, I need to say that I clipped out some strictly personal content and deleted part that would have violated board rules.
