Re: 84 craigslist score

Man the guy who I assume you bought this truck from used to work across the street from where I work. I also think I may have passed you bringing this truck back to abilene between wichita and seymour late wednesday, small world. I have no info on the truck, just used to see it everyday. BTW the reason the grille in your truck is different from other 84s is you have a "work truck" grille. The quad headlights with the parking lights behind the were an option included on the Silverado package etc.

Re: 84 craigslist score

yeah it is a small world so what would i have to change. to give it quad headlights and parking lights behind the grille. would this be a reason it might not have a dome light??

it has no headliner in it at all and no hole or nothing for any wiring for a dome light. unless maybe they ran the wiring behind the headlier ??

Re: 84 craigslist score

ill say this for sure this pick up is becomming more of a headache more and more. i spent all day saturday putting new set of bearings. inside the steering coloum because it had alot of play in it. i tried finding my short where i wont have to pull down on the wheel to start it. now the knuckle inside the coloum is messed up and ive got more play in the coloum. i wish no one would have ever replaced the coloum to began with. im ready to bang my head on the wall. im starting to have seccond thoughts on this whole thing.

Re: 84 craigslist score

did all 84s come with just one gas tank or is this something someone might have changed at one time? i even only have a gas tank lid on one side the drivers side.

Don't get too down on her now. If you wanted something you didn't have to work on you should of bought a new one. Take your time and enjoy the satisfaction of fixing these small items.

Re: 84 craigslist score

The easiest way to know if the engine was changed is to check the VIN, the 8th digit in the VIN will be the engine code. For an 84: a 305 engine code, F or H a 350 engine code L,M or P.

Re: 84 craigslist score

terryj the motor thats in the 84 i have is a newer 305. with center bolt valve covers and it says 5.0L on the block. so i know it has been changed to an earlier model 305.

Re: 84 craigslist score

so i sure hope something good outweighs the bad on this project. it seems like its been kind of downhill from the get go. from finding out it not beeing a 350 to the problems in the wiring and sterring colum. now friday i go to get the title changed over and come to find out. i didnt get the propper papper work i was supposed to from the seller. this is the first vehicle ive bought out right so i wasnt sure. an he said all the nessecary stuff was there. apparently here in texas the seller is to provide a certific of tittle application. upon selling a vehicle so the buyer can get the title trasnferd. and once you go passed 20 days of buying the vehicle and. dont get the title transfered over to yourself. there is an additional 20$ added to the fee of the title transfer. and another 20$ added eatch week its late. and im hving issues getting the paper from the seller.

and the dmv goes buy there value of the truck from what im told. and the cost of the title is 6.25% of that and as of right now. im looking at a price of $132.50 for a title transfer. the means they must value the truck over 2000$ without even looking at it.

so hopefuly after this is all done if i can contact the seller. things will start looking better on this project. i wish things would have gone alittle smoother on the process but thats not my luck lol

Re: 84 craigslist score

I hate that it was a 305, seems like these things change hands so much that stories get changed and eventually nobody knows what the hell they are talking about. Just looked at a vette yesterday that was "matching numbers 350" and it ended up being a 283 out of something 10 years older. People don't know **** sometimes
