Re: 69sinkers build 69 cst ls swap

Thanks Rob, I just checked out your build, looking good. I wanted to do my own body work but I don't think I have the know how or patience. I figured I would leave that to the pro. I'm hoping to have this truck on the road in 4 weeks for LS fest in KY. Probably dreaming, but I'm going with or without the truck.

I dont really have the know how either, I just read a WHOLE LOT when I want to do something Ive never done before. I taught myself to weld about 6-8 months ago. Did a TON of research as I wanted to learn to fabricate. Apparently my boss saw some of my welding and changed my job title. I used to be the lead automations tech (Automated gate service and installation) to our lead shop fabricator.

I'm heading to LS Fest also! Anyone see the engine swap challenge video on the website? 38 mins to swap a 350 out and LS in and drive the car! Awesome teamwork

Fenders, doors and cowl are edged out. Core support and fender wells are done also. Will start putting them on tomorrow.

It works fine, but I'm going to do something a little different with the bezel later.

Re: 69sinkers build 69 cst ls swap

Thanks, I'm hoping to make some progress this weekend(wiring). I would like to drive it to the body shop by next Sunday to put the bed on and get it ready for paint. Seems like the small things take forever, door adjustments, aligning panels, etc.

Re: 69sinkers build 69 cst ls swap

Spent the last week wiring and getting truck back on the road. Drove it to the body shop today and wet sanded the cab, painted the front of the bed and put on another coat of primer on bedsides. Bed back on tomorrow. Will spend the weekend wet sanding and hopefully paint on Monday.

Re: 69sinkers build 69 cst ls swap

More primer late last night. Wet sanded again with 600 today, cab ready for paint. Sprayed on bed liner this afternoon. Will wet sand bed sides one more time tomorrow morning, mask it and paint everything. Hopefully no surprises, otherwise Sunday for paint.
